Good point! thumb.gif Would rep you lol.. but anyways.. yea that is an awesome point.. I don't think it costs alot either... I am thinking networking wired like 4 locations 1 of which is the centeral area of the network so doesn't need any wired under-floor wiring... The problem I have is first if I should make sure the cable is weatherproofed and shielded? or not.. which isn't cheap... But I am sure replacing cables isn't much cheaper.. Second thing is should I use wall sockets around the electricity to help with not cracking the wire just feeding it through a hole in the floor like my co-axial line is...? The other thing is UV proof cable worth it?

I can get this for $260 for 1000': Cable Matters In-Wall Rated (CM) Cat6a Shielded (SSTP/SFTP) smile.gif

I can cheap out a bit... I am afraid of the stories about severe kinking during installation... but it would mean I would have to be extra careful...

BYTECC Cat 6E unshielded 1000' 23AWG ($150 riser rated)

Okay so an update... I ordered the Netgear 24-port smart switch and it arrives tomorrow afternoon... biggrin.gif

For now got some new shielded Cat 7 cable in 7' 14' 25' and 50' increments for a couple different things to just see how it goes and if it works then i will be wiring my house.. Cat 7 cable was from Cables Unlimited from Frys Electronics and it is pretty sweet same price for Cat 6A and is +100MHz (500MHz to 600MHz).. I believe it is 23/24 AWG aswell.. Will update with picks when I can..

I might be getting a quad-port Intel NIC to have better streaming support... but might not worry as I am using one Intel NIC and the Realtek 8111E that is on-board... For right now doing my workstation/server as dual-port Realtek 8111E and dual-port File server and a couple streaming devices... I will see about doing some LAN based speed testing to see how well it is performing...

I did notice that I had been causing many conflicts with my router and DHCP with the amount of devices I had... could have had an ARP Table flood but it is okay just cannot wait to get my switch to deal with it instead of my wireless router with dinky 4-port switch... mad.gif
