hopefully not subHD
We hope it's 720p like the 360 versions of GTA IV and RDR(PS3 versions were sub HD).

True but what does that have to do with GTA 5?

I think the articles are contrived; they are utterly uninspiring for me. I'd rather wait to just play the game myself.

The editorial standards these days have gone down significantly. rolleyes.gif

GTA 5 Xbox 360 frame rate, pop-up and anti-aliasing discussed

"According to a preview article by PC Games on Sept. 3, the latest “Grand Theft Auto” title seems to be running very well on Microsoft’s current-generation console with a very minor issue.

PC Games mentioned that “GTA 5” is a huge jump from the last mainline release of the series, “GTA 4,” which came out for the same system in 2008. Despite the increased details, the publication did not notice any frame rate and texture pop-up issues. Another major positive for the RAGE engine, which was used to build the video game, is the lightning. The sun in the game takes advantage of the new lighting technology to give the same area a different look during various times of the day.

The biggest issue for “GTA 5” on the Xbox 360 is the anti-aliasing. PC Games noticed that the edges in the open-world action-adventure video game are not very smooth. The publication blamed the 8-year-old current-generation system for the lack of anti-aliasing."

This is the version I'm getting.=O

If you have a decent PC when it released and played it at low-med settings (basically console quality or slightly better) it ran fine.

My PC in my sig can run the unpatched GTA 4 fine now because the hardware is up to task.

Now as far as bugs and crashes yeah it was bad, but as I said I think performance was bad just due the power of PC hardware at the time.

I can not run this game at more than medium settings if I want 60 FPS. I actually can't even get 60 FPS and shadows... Alright, that's at 2560x1440, but it's also a 5 year old game and I have 7950 CF. My cards just don't get any usage (30% maybe) and it's not CF, single card has the same GPU usage and matching low framerates. My old GTX 680 could run it at 60 FPS on max settings, but didn't get proper GPU usage either. I can't say if AMD messed up the drivers for this game (entirely likely considering NVIDIA's performance), but the game failed to utilize my GPU(s) with both vendors. And I'm not alone in that experience, it's a general issue (particularly with AMD cards). OTOH I know people who have had no issues at all.

On topic, I can't help but be annoyed by the praise GTA5 gets for its graphics. Don't get me wrong, I would totally get this game if it came out for PC or PS4 regardless of the graphics (I don't own any of the current gen consoles). I agree that the game looks to have great gameplay and many new features, I just can't help but think that it looks like a current-gen game and there's no comparing it to a next-gen game. Yes, it is probably the best looking open-world game on the current gen consoles and that is an amazing achievement. It is however also obviously running on a machine with only 512 MB of RAM. It is so plainly obvious when looking at the textures. Additionally the screenshots seem to show that it completely lacks ambient occlusion. Notice the contrast between people and the ground or the rubble in the background. Notice the lack of AO on the rubble. That's not a critique of the game, that's just a reality check. They obviously have high-res textures in the game in the places where it matters most and the game looks amazing for current gen, but stop saying that this looks like a next gen game. Even the marketing screenshots show a lot of telltale signs that it's running on old hardware.

This. I have to agree, a lot of people are going to be disappointed once they get the game on either PS3 or Xbox and see that the graphics are not like in the trailers. But this game is not all about graphics, its the gameplay and massive content that counts.

I'm probably going to get this game on PS3 when it releases, I just couldn't wait for PC version knowing its already out on consoles.

I agree, those kick ass graphical trailer is for advertisement purposes only to lure many new gamer. But still, we can expect that this will be a huge game in terms of gameplay.

I am a PC geek, and will definitely wait for this to be release in this platform. I hope I won't wait forever.
