ASUS DirectCU II GTX 670 4GB(330$) brand new

Seems like an insanely good price no? Do you guys think I should hold off or bite? I don't have a card right now and previously had an EVGA GTX 670. In Canada these cards sell for 399$ on NCIX. With shipping and taxes, it gets close to 450$. Is this a good deal? I was planning on buying a second one later to SLI them.

Edit: Don't tell me to get a 7950 or 7970, I'm not touching AMD with a 10ft pole.

Edit: It doesn't come with Arkham Origins though.

Yeah I did. They'll restock on the 10th and I should receive it by the 17th-23rd. I think I'll tell them to delay the delivery until the 25th, see if AMD can entice me to cancel it. biggrin.gif

I haven't been charged yet and they won't ship until next week. I would really like some more opinions.

Wow I can barely even find 2GB 670's for that price and I'm also in Canada. At that price I'd say it's probably worth it especially if you can get another for sli for that price or cheaper.

TBH I don't think the 9000 series will be any better in performance per dollar then this (at least here in Canada) and if you can get another for sli you'll almost certainly have significantly better performance then a 9970 for probably close to the same cost.

Yeah I was surprised to find it at this price new in a sealed box. I recall people saying the 256 bit bus of the GTX 670 was a big problem to push 4GB, considering I'll have two of them with a 256bit bus, won't it be a problem at high res? Will these two cards have a hard time going beyond 3GB?

I'm not certain about this, but from what I understand the 256bit bus is adequate for utilizing the 4gb of vram on the 670's. From what I hear the real issue with the 670's is that they don't have enough gpu power to utilize more then 2GB unless your using 3x 1080p or 3x 1440p monitors, and with some people saying you need at least 3-way GTX 670 SLI in order to use the full 4GB of vram. Personally I have done a lot of gaming on my 2GB GTX 760's in SLI on my 1440p monitor and I've never been vram limited in any games so far, even on crysis 3 maxed out with MSAA 8x. It says it's using 2048MB but even so I don't get any significant drops in fps.

I think as of right now the 4GB card doesn't benefit much over the 2GB card, however in the future games might start using more then 2GB on these cards so in that sense it's more future proof, and it's beneficial if you run mods on skyrim that require lots of vram. here's the latest thread I could find about the issue: http://www.overclock.net/t/1418081/4gb-vram-on-a-256bit-bus-limitations

Well from what I read 4GB is basically useless unless you game in 3-way SLI with 3 monitors at 1080p. If you don't do that it seems you won't exceed 2GB of VRAM which I doubt holds truth for games that will come out in 1-2 years.
