Did I Waste My Money ? - Page 5

if its DDR2 1066, thats plenty fast enough, and provides LOTS of overhead overclocking room. There will be les than a 1% increase (if that) between your ram and the "BEST FASTEST RAM EVER ZOMG!!!"

what are the timings?
EDIT: timings are 5-5-5-15

you will able to overclock those a decent ammount, but you might not even need to since they have the really high clocks

4GB will be the new gamer standard my mid-07... when 64xVista becomes mainstream... why would it be a waste? 1GB is min for Vista so wouldnt you want 4GB instead of a little more then the minimum?

i dont have $300 to blow on RAM but if i did i would spend it on decent stuff

I don't think you wasted your money, I run 2 GB's and wish I had more sometimes. Bf2 uses 78% of my memory. Future games will use more. So good future proofing.

DO NOT get the QX6700 for these reasons:

1: It isn't true Quad Core (simply 2x dual cores on one chip)
2: They are a total a** to overclock and run incredibly hot at stock and consume a lot of power
3: The X6800 surpasses it in almost everything.

It's only good for the following:

1: is a great CPU for benchies that utilise multi threads (3DMark06, Video encoding etc)

If your a gamer go with the X6800 imo, or wait for true Quad Core. Don't get me wrong it is the fastest chip around when utilised in supported apps. But when the true Quad Core releases it will run rings round the QX6700.

Yep that is the processor i'd get if i had that kinda of cash, your 550W PSU is barely enough for your system even with one GTX. As your talking about getting a 2nd GTX get a 800W PSU from Seasonic so your ready for it.
