I see some Q9550 on ebay going for less than $150 if that is an option. Probably the better of the C2Q's. SLB8V is the batch that you'd want. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

What is the budget if you don't mind me asking?

He says playing on the dual core 2.5ghz + 560ti on servers less than 30 ish people is perfectly fine for him. But as soon as we play bigger 64 player maps; then thats when he says the game becomes almost unplayable. I made a thread before regarding this and some people with C2Q and BF3 have chimed in and say that it works fine. He is not a picky person when it comes to quality. He plays Battlefield 3 on XBOX 360 without the HD texture pack and he thinks that is already pretty good for him. He thinks 30fps gameplay is fun (oh my god dont even get me started....)

His budget is $60 dollars. Go figure. He's not a PC enthusiast; hes a car enthusiast who plays video games as a side thing. Hes just a really good pilot lol. If the 2.66ghz is that much better than the 2.5ghz version then i might tell him to spend a little more to get that used. So far i see a Q6600 for under 60.

For such a small budget I would go for the Q6600. And depending on your RAM speed and that the mobo doesn't allow for voltage controls you may be able to hit 300 or so on the FSB.. But, considering it's for 95 watt CPUs you may just want to keep it at stock (potential for VRM overheating).

Yeah i plan on keeping it stock. Is the 2.66ghz C2Q worth the extra price over the 2.5ghz ? (it is about $10 difference) the next level up is a $30 difference....

This is assuming if i can convince my friend to spend that extra 10 dollars more with his already constricted budget. rolleyes.gif

The Q6600 is 2.4ghz.. The Q6700 is 2.66ghz.. Obviously it has a higher multiplier. Is it worth the ten extra bucks. IMHO yes.

eBay link for $58 shipped. http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=111160278243
