I do not know if that supports the Pentium D or not, but I can tell you that my Northwood rocks at 3.6 Ghz

Is this the one? http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/...GA-8VM800M-775

*****EDIT*****

Heck! I just checked all 3 VIA chispets for the LGA socket and all 3 support a Pentium D CPU. But I think the ones w/o the ViiV tech.

So update to the latest BIOS and get a Pentium D 945 which is a Dual Core running at 3.40ghz.

No, get the Celeron D 356, that thing overclocks to 5GHz.

Go for the P4, I used to have a 340 D that I could overclock to 3.89 stable, bought a used P4 2.8c and although it will only overclock to 3.36 stable it walks all over the Celeron. A real big improvement in game play.

I wouldn't count on overclocking with that chipset, VIA's are crap for overclocking and the motherboard itself seems like it could do a little OC but not a lot and you'd need a great OC just to make it worth going from Celeron to Pentium.

If possible though, I'd update the BIOS on your motherboard and buy a Pentium D Dual Core CPU, from a 2.80ghz to 3.40ghz, see link here for what I recommend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116238

The least expensive Pentium 4 cost $85 at egg but for $33 more, you'll end up with a Dual Core CPU, a Pentium D 915 (way better than the P4) at 2.80ghz which you could overclock about 200mhz more out of it.
