Audio-to-USB!

Thread Starter
So I have these problems with my motherboard (I've posted about it before), and one of the major problems is I cannot get my sound to work.

I got a Logitech Premium Stereo Headset for Christmas (Merry Christmas by the way!), the problem is, my Audio Jack on my motherboard is toasted. The Microphone jack works fine (I tested it using sound recorder, I watched the bars move when I said things). What I want to know is, are there any USB adapters that convert 3.5mm audio jacks into USB? I've tested my friend's USB headphones and they work great. If there are Audio-to-USB jacks, where can I find them? I've looked around on newegg, and have found nothing .

Thanks in advance for any help given .

I'm pretty sure you can get external sound cards that work with USB, but that's not you're looking for.

Yeah, I've gotten a sound card before, but it was a... bad... experience... to say the least, and it's just sooo much easier to go USB.

Well... Motherboard sound usually sounds TERRIBLE... I would NEVER build a computer withought a soundcard..... So I say ya get one... Cause USB is digital and speakers are analouge- therefore you need a soundcard.... I personally am looking for a USB souncard for my soon to arrive new laptop.. Thanks for remindin me to start researching! (I use linux- EVERYTHING works with windows- not so with linux)

You can go USB soundcard, or internal PCI. Internal is MUCH cheaper
I will show you what I reccomend you buy: Choose one..

USB Creative Audigy 2

CHEAP Internal: The Sb LIVE!

SLIGHTLY more expensive: Audigy Value

Now I will see if I can find these on say, newegg.

Audigy Value Internal- $27

Here is a USB Soundblaster: Never heard of it.. But it should work for you fine. $50

I have a JVC box which has:

- FM/AM Radio
- USB Stick support (for MP3 and WMA)
- USB DAC support (Meaning you can hook it up through a cable from the computer)
- CD and all the other stuff...

Let me see if I can find it for you, because it also has some pretty cool speakers.

Here is an example of what I'm looking for USB adapter. Would any of the well known places carry one of these? I've looked at tigerdirect, Newegg, bestbuy, circuit city, and still no luck.

That will actually sound like crap since you get a horrible DAC that only has mono output. You're much better off with buying a really cheap sound card than using that adapter.
