Boosting Single Core performance on an FX4100

Thread Starter
I've recently been experiencing frame rate issues in MWO, and I've found out that it is because MWO doesn't make the best use of multi core CPUs. I was wondering if their was a way to boost the performance of a single core (maybe by subtracting from another core?) to get better performance.
Thanks in advance for any help provided.
Specs

FX 4100
ATI 7850
8 GB Ram
Win 7 64x

Nope. Only thing is to overclock it and dial in the CPU/NB and HT Link speeds. Thatll effect all 4 cores but you cant focus on just 1 core. Are you overclocking now? If youre at stock speeds, that could be a big part of your problem. These things beg to be overclocked up to 4+ GHz and should do 4.3 or better on stock voltage and a $30 Hyper 212+ cooler.

How do I overclock the 4100? I've never tried because it seemed risky.

I would go with a used Phenom II x4 or a FX 6100 at least instead of getting a heatsink for ocing smile.gif

You know I just realized thats a 4100 and not a 4300. Thats gonna be the problem. Thats a Bulldozer processor which has horrible single core performance. The 8100 is a decent gaming chip but only cranked up to 4.5 or better. A 4100 is going to perform worse than a Phenom II X4 and maybe even an Athlon II X4!

I strongly suggest saving up some cash and investing in something better. The FX-6300's run around $120 shipped (assuming youre in the US) and the old Phenom II X4 965's run for well under $100 shipped. Spend a little coin and get a 6300 and a good cooler like a Hyper 212+ at minimum, read up on overclocking and get to it. Itll not only be a lot of fun but be a BIG boost in your gaming performance.

what's your motherboard Steemship? so we can determine if you're safe to overclock.
Anyway an FX4100 can easily get to 4.1ghz even with just the stock cooler. Its a very cool chip.
If you get a big heatsink you can easily get it to 4.5ghz.

Also what ping do you have on the servers? any ping above 120 will cause you lag.
