Really? Someone recently told me the last time they bought a drive from Newegg, it arrived wrapped in JUST bubble wrap with no other packaging.
That's terrible, but I've heard from others and read others saying what you just said. I just read someone saying they got their HD in a white box with peanuts inside the shipping box around it, and another person saying the same but packing paper instead of peanuts. So it seems like maybe it has to do with which warehouse its coming from, based on your location maybe? I'm not sure what to make of this. Lot of different information about Newegg I'm seeing.
Anyway, keep posting guys. Hard drives are one of those rare hardware components that a warranty can't help much if they go bad, cause you could loose some really important stuff. A warranty can't replace lost information.
That was nice of you to go through the trouble of posting that Ebay link... but I personally would never shop on Ebay. After all the bad stuff I've heard about that place and all the people I've known and talked two who have been left high and dry, scammed, and ripped off through Ebay... I won't touch that place. Someone tried to explain to me once how to shop safely on there, but it got really long with a lot of stuff to learn and memorize... it shouldn't be that difficult. I just be able to buy something from a site without fear of being taken advantage of, simple as that. I don't even like browsing it. Feels like a nest of villainy!! Dun dun duuunnnn
Besides, its the same with Amazon. Its not just one store, there's tons of different individual people selling stuff on there... so there's no guarantee with shipping, no standard. That's another risk. I think its better to just find a store that is a singular business, with standards that they follow with each order and shipment, and a good reputation... especially when it comes to buying something delicate that needs to be carefully shipped the right way.... and most people don't know how to properly ship a hard drive or don't want to spend the money to do it the right way. That's the problem I had with Amazon.Edited by Drahadis - 9/4/13 at 10:30pm
