Whats with the hate to TN monitors?
They can actually be very good and accurate once calibrated currently. And its more than enough for gaming experience.

This. I went from a 1200p IPS samsung monitor and really didn't notice any difference in quality once calibrated. You'd have to put the monitors side by side for me to care.
Also, these monitors are for performance. If you want smooth 100+ fps gameplay, you get this monitor.
If you want quality, get a 1440p ips monitor.
Either way, both will require CF/SLI to get the most out of it unless you just want a cheap 1080p IPS, in which case go for it.

Bring on OLED monitors already, how long will this LCD crap quality continue? Still rocking my Sony FW900 CRT, 10+ years and still almost no LCD monitor can match it on specs alone.

Good TN colors depens basically of the ag coating and so far all 120hz/144hz has worse ag coating then the new IPS. So ye keep asking those e-sports profile about advice that know nothing about lcd technologies, sure will get good answers, hEhEhEhEhE.
It is so annoying that there are 1080p smartphone screens out now and even a 5.5" 1440p LG prototype, yet in the monitor industry we can't even get 120hz 1440p or even exotic screen technologies like OLED. This market has been stagnant for quite a while and the manufacturers are still charging an arm and a leg for screens that have the same technology as 4-5 years ago.

1. A lot of smart phones use IPS
2. Alot of smart phones (all ?) are 60hz not 120hz.
3. OLED on a small screen a big screen is a bit harder.
4. OLED screen burns like plasma ( even though false claims came through about how that was fixed, until you read manufacturers disclaimer lol)
5. Motion Blur can still exist on OLED:
6. those stupid big resolutions are cutting edge on smart phones that havent technically come out yet but they will just like 4K TV are about to so no difference..
HardForum Test:
"OLED isn't, "by itself", the solution to motion blur, UNLESS it pulses the pixels rather than store-and-hold. (Plasma with a 900 pixel "motion resolution", and OLED with a 300 pixel "motion resolution", as from the moving-resolution-test-pattern motion test on the test pattern Blu-Ray disc)"
So really OLED is not the answer. Nor is LCD. But something that can do 4K @ 60hz without the ghosting blur and motion resolution loss you get from liquid crystal or organic emitting technologies.. at least not unless you have light boost and 120hz done properly and calibrate afterwards (but then we can talk being able to run games at 100FPS)
Its not a popular view but I think something like FED (a plasma rival) @ 4K 60hz would be really nice.
Plasma is still king but they didn't make anything smaller than 1080p 42" which is kind of a duff resolution for a monitor but with 4k it might be possible to have a plasma for a monitor
If you play games with fast moving action the 120hz+ is awesome..with the lightboost hack you're basically as good as a CRT for motion. I would go 1080p TN to get that butter smooth display over IPS 1440p anyday.

because everything like smartphones and tablets are IPS LCD or OLED now. Standards have changed this isn't 2007 anymore.
