Honeslty, that of which you speak above is the stuff of "movies and fiction". By your logic, how many theives go through the trouble of finding you and stealing your KEYS to get into your car. That would be easier than stealing your biometric information.
It is just if a biometric would unlock and start my car and some one used it...there would be no way to tell how it happened. If some one steals my keys from me I will be able to know when it happened. Even if they just picked my pocket. If I had the key and then i didn't...I'd know the area it happened in and there are few public places not on camera these days. With the biometric...you'd have nothing on the people that did it. There is no way to track down where I left a finger print. It could be taken off a glass, a door on a parking garage, perhaps even off the reader its self. And yeah this isn't your average car thief...most cars are stolen because the keys are left in the ignition. However, there are plenty of "professional" car thieves out there. Not to mention that this same thing could be done to house doors as well.
And of course this is all fiction...there is little biometric security any where else. Probably because security experts know that it isn't a good thing to use.Edited by Vagrant Storm - 9/6/13 at 6:14pm
