HP Envy Dv6 725 won't run windows 7? (buying tomorrow please help asap) - Page 2

this is crazy ... so which part doesn't have native support in windows 7, the chipset? there must be a piece of hardware in that laptop that windows 7 installer cannot recognize and run on without driver (could get slipstreamed to installation disk if identified).
UEFI or Legacy doesn't matter, I installed both windows 7 and 8 in either of modes, never a problem.

Chipset and a AHCI thing + i tried Nvidia but it didn't work but windows install fine after that !

yeah, chipset and AHCI are related to each other closely. so you have Windows installed and running or not yet?

I am looking at specs of this laptop and it seems they do not specify chipset in specs of dv6 7200 series, if it's intel based chipset (should be as it run Iv Bridge CPU) then the latest driver should be this:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=3467&DwnldID=20775&keyword=chipset+driver&lang=eng

For Intel RST driver, try this driver:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=23060&ProductFamily=Software+Products&ProductLine=Chipset+Software&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Rapid+Storage+Technology+%28Intel%C2%AE+RST%29&lang=eng

Nvidia driver here:
http://www.geforce.com/drivers/results/63462

vendor repackaged drivers may or may not work, because they were scripted for Windows 8 they might not want to install on win 7, go with manufacturer drivers for each component if possible or use Windows Update to get it all detected for starters then update specifics with latest manuf versions and you should be good to go! smile.gif
