i7 3930k: PCIe 3 and Ram Questions

Thread Starter
I want to know if the 3930k supports PCIe 3 and 1866mhz ram because on Intel's website it states that the 3930k supports PCIe 2.0 and ram up to 1600mhz?

The other question I wanted to know is can I run 2 sticks of 8gb ram (16gb ram) on a Sabertooth x79/3930k for now, until I can buy 2 additional sticks of 8gbs ram for 32gb? Or do I have to use 4 sticks total?

Thanks.

it doesn't officially support pci-e 3.0, but it works fine with AMD cards & running a patch can enable it for nvidia cards. Can't remember if it was 1600 or 1866 that was officially supported but memory can still overclock, 2133mhz is fairly common & a fair number of boards & chips can run 2400mhz or more (depends on the cpu's IMC).

2 sticks of memory will work, it will just run in dual channel instead of the quad channel 2011 boards are capable of.
