I'm going through this ordeal right now. I'm on my 3rd mouse to test out.

No recommendations that I've tested just yet but here's what I've tried:

Razer Deathadder 2013. Smaller than the G5 and always felt a bit uncomfortable for me with a palm grip. If I went claw/fingertip it was fine. The one odd thing for me was that the "back" thumb button was a bit too far back in comparison to the G5.

Steelseries Sensei. Another finger/claw grip mouse. Much flatter than the G5, the arch on it just wasn't enough for me. It's also rather wide.

Logitech G700s. Currently using this one as a wired mouse. Best of the three for palm grip but when not gaming, my thumb seems to hit the thumb buttons a bit frequently. The G700s also seems to really want to "encourage" your hands to a particular shape whereas the G5 was good with you adjusting your hands a bit; I have a bit of a tendency to float most of my palm in a hybrid palm/fingertip grip and the G5 handled that well, the G700s less so, probably in part due to the thumb buttons. The sides have a bit of a rugged texture. Some have called it sandpaper. Might not be for everyone. The extra buttons and scroll wheel have been great. I'm still iffy on this one.

One that keeps coming up is the Roccat Kone XTD. I've had several recommendations on trying that one out. Given I'm a bit down on the G700s I'm likely to give that a try this weekend.

There's also the Logitech G400s but I've read that the cable has some big longevity issues so I've stayed away from that. The G500s seems to have tracking problems. Pity as it would make the most sense coming from a G5.

I'm also looking at a Razer Mamba though I'd rather try the XTD out first; if it works out, it's a bit cheaper.

Good luck.
