So... they did deserve your money after all?

I'm afraid Grizzleboy has your post pegged.

I'm genuinely confused about why EA gets hate, I must have missed something. Is this some fanboy whinge-fest over Mass Effect 3's ending, or Dragon Age 2 or something?

If you want to a hate a publisher, hate Activision. They rip gamers off with DLC, their games almost never drop in price, and they buy up and then destroy I.P.s. Sometimes EA steps in to save them, Brutal Legend being an example. I think EA are pretty nifty.

What are you talking about? My post "pegged"? This isn't an argument to say that i'm right or that you are wrong.

I gave my money to Humble bundle. That's all there is to it.

btw I only spent a buck too.

By 'pegged' I mean your OP was over-entitled gamer nonsensical drivel. 'They don't deserve to claim my money as charity, and yet I'll take a few licences to their games, thankyouverymuch, because I like some of them. EA still doesn't deserve my money though!' Yikes.

You seriously believed that? Yes, I dislike EA but I don't have grudge to hell with them.

Anyone overly loving or hating a company without serious $ invested in it, has a serious mental illness/defect and should seek medical help immediately. This is no joke.

If EA does something good so they can continue to treat their customers like crap then fine by me. EA raising millions of dollars for a charity is more good done for the world than sitting around pissing and moaning about them on a forum ever did, or more likely than most of us will do for the world in our lives for that matter.

Misplaced outrage is misplaced... thumb.gif

Good for them. Especially good for charity.

Now, Ubisoft should do the same thing. Waiting for some cheap AC to buy.....

Threads like these are depressing because it always shows how for some, irrational hatred of a corporation actually transcends the goodness brought by raising money for causes such as AIDS or Cancer research. I know people love to complain about game companies and other tech companies, and I occasionally join them. But honestly, hardly anything that gamers whine about online actually has a significant impact on people's lives. It's just things we bicker about because it's a hobby and people like to complain.

There are times when it may be ok to take your fanboy goggles off for just a few seconds and recognize a good thing when it comes. Giving away lots of games for whatever price people want and letting the money go to some great causes is a good thing pretty much any way you look at it.
