New water cooling project. Any suggestion will be welcome - Page 2

It's really not difficult nor is it dangerous. You will be fine.

I've ordered the GPU Blocks.

I was in a chat with a person of www.pcrelic.com, told me that a single radiator for CPU and 2 GPU. won't be sufficient.

The alphacool XT45 is no available, he recommended me the Koolance 280 30FPI.

Is he right? Which of the radiators is best?

30FPI i would need faster and louder fans.

If i need 2 radiators, i'd need also 2 pumps serial or separated?

Thx in advance.

This koolance is a very restrictive rad. You would need powerful fans and this means more noise. I would try an airplext xt.

Obviously, a single radiator is not enough for your system, you would need, at least, a 3 + 1 rad configuration. And only 1 pump, but i recommend you a DDC if the loop is "complicated".

Well the thing is that people recommend 120x120 worth of radspace per chip plus an extra 120x120. I really don't like that recommendation because it completely disregards the fan speed. Lower fan speed means you need more radspace. I like to run fans that are capable of high speeds and that are PWM and capable of low silent speeds. That is my preference not everyones but it means that if temps get out of hand I have the fan power to get them under control. It also means I can enjoy silence when the system is not too hot.

Anyways the 4x120 would be 57,600mm of radspace. A 2x140 radiator is 39,000mm of radspace. I don't know what fan speed this recommendation comes at but if you figure it is at 1300RPM then 4 2000RPM 140mm fans in push/pull would probably suffice. Make sure the fans are PWM and they will be quiet when your system isn't extremely hot.

A lot of people feel the target Delta should be about 10C... if it goes up another 10C to 20C your radiators will be dissipating 2x as much heat but your CPU and GPU temps will only go up 10C. If this is ok with you then a single 2x140 radiator should be plenty with or without 2000RPM fans. I would still recommend those fans and if it you can fit another radiator somewhere then do that and you can run some lower speed fans.

You don't need a second pump for a second radiator. A single MCP-35b, MCP-35x, MCP-355, MCP-350, or MCP-655 will suffice. Your best bang for the buck will be the MCP-35b or MCP-655b but the MCP-35x is worth the extra money for the PWM control which will allow the pump to run at a lower RPM when the system is idling which could reduce noise and extend pump life.

I've made some room between the HDD Cages and the mobo.

take note that the VGA heat sinks will go off, I've a clearence of 110 mm more or less, enough room to put a 240 mm radiator with push config.

Second pump is needed?

Two circuits?

thx for the comments. thumb.gif
