So i've bought a new PC 2 months ago and all is working fine but the DVD-RW sometimes it goes crazy i mean it lost from windows explorer and device manager but on the bios is active and after losting it the "red" light of the case is keeping red all the time until i shutdown and power on the PC then all again is working fine so DVD-RW is showing on windows explorer and the red light will work normally, this issue is happening rarely i mean 1 time in two weeks or so! So i need an help from you what do you think the issue is causing from, do i need to open the case and to re-connect the sata cable (i don't want to because i still didn't opened the case) or what ? Thank you so much for any answer and sorry for my poor english smile.gif

specs are:

- Core i3 3220 3.30GHz
- 8GB RAM DDR3
- GT 630 Nvidia
- 500GB HDD
- LG Super Multi DVD-RW
- Windows 8.1 64 bit (it happened also with windows 7 and windows 8)
- Gigabyte H61M-S2P

If its not really a big issue then I would just leave it alone if you dont want to open the case.

Otherwise just buy a new sata cable and see if that gives the fix.

Pop that sucker open and check the cables! If that doesn't help, replace the sata cable. If that doesn't help, DVD drives are cheap, get a replacement or borrow one and see if it goes away.
