Litlle Help..?

So here's what I just ordered--just now:
New Rig.

I rushed to order this RAM from a Shell Shocker e-mail (was thrilled at the price/speed) and just now cancelled cause it's incompatible...

Best RAM under 80 bucks? Honestly, I haven't been keeping up. Too much work. Best compatible RAM at or under 80 bucks...8 gigs.

Thank you guys.

Here's what I mistakenly ordered: G Skill Ares 2133

OMG >>> Mods, please move this to Intel Memory. Sheesh. Sorry OCN; I'm tired from work and trying to get this done. Apologies.

I'm new to Haswell/Ivy/Sandy is that G Skill Ares compatible with Haswell? I'll re-order it.

I have the 1866 version of that kit. Yes its compatible, but you may want to go for a kit that runs at 1.5v instead (if you are worried about intels maximum recommended voltage)

Also with Haswel, I believe the lower your memory is clocked, the higher clock you'll be able to reach on the CPU side of things. Since using above 1600mhz memory reaps very little benefit, perhaps just go for a cheaper 1600mhz kit instead?

That was my main worry: the voltage. As you can see, my rig is old, I'm not up to speed on this newer gen stuff. I just saw the speed/price and was like "Holy crap...better grab it."

May just get these: Ripjaws
1600

Hold on sorry, I didn't see your rig. Funnily enough it seems you have my old motherboard.

Do you actually have the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R? If so, its a DDR2 only board, not DDR3!!

There are DDR3 motherboards on the P45 platform so I want to be sure.

On the other note, getting 8gb of ram to run fine on your motherboard may be troublesome. Due to the many problems I had when I owned it,I reverted only to using 4GB total, this is not to say you'll have provlems too, but I would make sure you purchase a kit that is on the Gigabyte QVL. I expect you will need to run 4x4gb rather than 2x 8gb.

If you can't find any on the QVL, definitely check the memory manufactures product page to see if they have it listed as being compatible with your particular board.

Also, be aware if you are overclocking your CPU, then it is more likely you will run into compatibility problems running higher memory capacity. For this reason more tweaking may be needed.

No, I just ordered these:

4670k

GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-D3H

And I have an MSI GTX 760 on my desk right next to me.

I'm waaaaaaay out of the loop on this new gen stuff though.

Edit: LOL, Relax, I'm out of the loop not brand new to this. I'm totally unfamiliar with what Ivy and Haswell are friendly with.

Then any of the memory you linked will work.

It helps having a xmp profile on the ram. Will make it far easier to ensure stability. However most ram hasn't xmp profiles nowadays.

If you're really worried you can check your boards qvl or the memory manufactures website before buying. They will often state which boards they have tested with.

Good luck with your new system.I'm sure you won't be let down:)
