I've never heard that rumor... The 7900GT has 24 pipelines...twice the 12 of the 7600 core.

Why is that funny, It could just be a software glitch.

it is a software glitch , 4 extra pipes would give much more than 3k aquamark and it would be effective in all games and benchmark , not just "feel" faster.

Just to re-cap....

so far we have a bunch of 7600 owners who 'sucessfully' completed the "so-called unlock". Some have seen improvements in benchmark scores, but claim to not notice an improvement in game FPS. Others have not been able to perform the unlock due to the PCB revision of their card, or ignorance. Then we the skeptics, that claim there is no such method.

So I will have to post back w/ some benchies and some fraps shots for FPS sake. I will run 3d 05' before and after the unlock, w/ cpuZ screenies to show cpu/ram settings, as well as some more pics from rivatuner.

....as for the skeptics.....can you post something to 'vouch' for your side of the story....comments are just not enough to back up a debate....you need

Run 3dmark after you have done the "unlocking", then run it the second time when it is not "unlocked". Do that for all the benchmarks, or reboot inbetween the testing.

As for actual "proof" that extra pipelines can not be unlocked, thats a lot harder to find. But as of date, I have not seen any website, real or fake saying that you can unlock pipelines for the 7600 (G73).

Affirmative...You have to re-boot, after the 'pipes' are set to either enable or disable.

I'm not saying there is no mod/un-lock etc, or that one isn't possible, but I am sceptical, as I am of most things. Its just in my nature to question the truth of what I read, hear and see. I always find it hard to "just believe" stuff. LOL, I'm almost always sceptical .

It'd be great if you did some "before and after" tests using fraps etc, as that would really help to add some weight to assertion that this mod/un-lock actually works, or has some positive effect on the actual graphics data processing of the GPU in question.

If your tests show an improvement, other people might do the same thing with their cards (if possible) and if we start to get a pool of empirical data that shows there is indeed a positive effect of using this mod/un-lock, that'll help the wider community, many of whom are sceptical, to accept that this thing really does work.

Highly-Annoyed
