If you end up running ZFS or Storage Spaces, I'd give strong consideration to getting a faster CPU than the Dual Core Celeron G555. That one is pretty slow, and doesn't have much cache on-die. If you can afford an i5, it would go a long way to boosting your home server's performance.

But also if you're getting a Celeron maybe you might want to get a Haswell mobo and cpu.

Well I only insisted on a Haswell celeron because as I can see the OP included a celeron in their parts list so why not get a newer part?, It does seem to be weaker than the Athlon especially since it has two more processing cores, but it also has lower power consumption than it too.

He should just stick to his x4 640 since it will take a long time to pay off for the haswell+new mobo besides where are they?

Oh I didn't know he had an athlon already, better off sticking with what you've got.
I've seen some Haswell Celerons on UK websites such as Overclockers and Novatech

Ok so heres what went down......

Traded the Athon system for a BNIB Mediasonic 4bay Proraid. I stuffed that full of 3TB WD Greens. (Raid 5)

Ordered a QNAP TS-669L and going to stuff that full of 1TB WD Blacks (Raid 5 or 6)

Ordered a Mediasonic 2bay Proraid and going to put two 1TB WD Blacks (Raid 0), hoping to connect that to the QNAP as extra space, or backup to it......
