Temps for i5-2500k w/ H80i new install

Thread Starter
Just installed H80i. So i'm getting idle temps of 40 and @ 3700 Mhz XMP profile, I get under load over 60. I never had this with the hyper plus. Now I'm not too familiar with WC, are these normal temps for a new install of WC system?

Make sure the pump is not temperature controlled, and is running at 100% speed all the time.

That seems a bit higher than expected, but your temps aren't dangerous or anything. Have you checked which fan profile you're using in the Corsair Link software? I can't recall which profile it defaults to (Balanced maybe?).

Also be sure that the pump is seated properly...It looks like your board as a lot of caps near the CPU socket, so check that the pump isn't resting on any of them. The caps usually aren't an issue, but I've seen them get in the way in a few cases.

Also, check that the bracket on the back side of the motherboard is installed correctly. There should be a small cut out for two of the screws in the CPU socket plate. Make sure you've aligned the cutout on the bracket so it's like this...

I checked the plate. All good. Now I installed the drivers and set all fans to performance mode.

I managed to re-adjust pump and re-tighten screws. Backplate was good. Temps seem to be normal now, I was expecting better temps going from WC to AC.
Also, in Corsair link, I manual put selected 2000 rpm for both fans on radiator. They kinda loud, is it worth having it at 2000 rpm or is performance mode enough?

I think its just because you went from air cooling to an H80i. I think you would see a bigger difference in temps if you went with maybe an H100i or a higher end liquid cooler. Look at the benches in my sig. My 2500k @ 4.6 only hits 71c after 30 minutes of small fft. Both my previous air coolers can't even come close to this at the same OC.

Yeah I have yet to test my 4.5 OC. I will have to see how it fairs.
