Einstein@Home project support thread - Page 6

post #51 of 64
Yeah, the new Einstein website is terrible. Only thing easy to do is get to the forums, whereas changing settings takes five minutes because it's like five pages to plow through so you can change one little thing.

Even worse is the tasks section.... You used to see what was in progress, pending validation, etc.... How many, times and all, but now it's all jumbled together in one gigantic mess with no totals.

... Okay, you can pull up pages of each type, but there is no separate section for each application, or overall counts anymore.

I'm aware, needed to shake the bugs out of the system.

Running in linux now - turns out my fresh install of cuda 8 broke my install of the latest driver. So, I had to reinstall the driver.

If you're using a hosts file address to block its
Code:
einstein3.aei.uni-hannover.de
post #57 of 64
EDIT2: Please see this post for reference.
Please, if you can, test it out and leave feedback - I am unsure whether blocking this host is correct as communication from all my clients may be differed for a while after so many attempts. wink.gif

EDIT: Apparently, einstein4 is not it as well. Einstein3 and einstein4 simultaneously blocked allowed my work to slip, too!
original post (Click to show)
Posting here too, but for this Pentathlon (and possibly further in time!) the correct address to block might be:
Code:
einstein4.aei.uni-hannover.de

I tried blocking einstein3 and my work uploaded, although I wasn't able to download any tasks. I have a pair of tasks coming up in less than 10 minutes so I will further confirm.

The conclusion is that they may have moved their upload handler to a dedicated machine in order to handle the volumes of submissions Pentathlon would generate.
Please refer to Einstein@home's server status page.

For absolute throughput, I presume there's little reason to devote CPUs to these tasks?

Obviously at least a hyperthread will need to support the GPU task, but for the sake of Pentathalon shenanigans, just asking for a sanity check for those who've run this task before.

1080 -> ~9m for a Gamma-ray run today
980 -> ~16m for a Gamma-ray run today
CPU -> HOOOOUUUURs

So, for overall credits, I'm setting preferences to GPU only..

I don't run the CPU tasks at E@H except for the RPi as there are just a few projects available for that. Just GPU for x86 machines.

Oops, looks like I have a stack of E@H results that will leak out if I release the network for zikka on one machine.

Going to use iptables to block the entire sub-net and see if that does it...
