I am looking to upgrade my PC for games like BF3,BF4,AC4,Watch Dogs, etc but i am not sure whether to upgrade the CPU or the GPU.
My Specs:
Intel Pentium G630 2.7ghz(Sandy Bridge)
Gigabyte H61 M-DS2(not sure if this board supports Ivy Bridge?)
8gb ddr3 ram
1gb Radeon 7750 gddr5
Resolution is 1440*900
These are my options:
Option 1:Upgrade CPU to i5-2400
Option 2:Upgrade CPU to i5-3470
Option 3:Upgrade GPU to 2gb 7790
Option 4:Upgrade GPU to 1gb 7850
Which among these will give me the most increase in performance ?
My budget is strictly under $180 so i can only upgrade one component. Also what kind of performance increase can i expect from the upgrade that you suggest ?
This upgrade will be for the next two or so years before i upgrade the other component so please advice what should i upgrade.Thanks.smile.gif

Go for the fastest GPU you can afford - if your budget is $180 then you can grab this:

AMD HD 7870 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161404

Comes with 2 free games and is quite a bit faster than a 7850 - the G630 isn't going to really limit a single GPU so game wise, you'll want the fastest you can get thumb.gif

Thanks for your response but i forgot to mention that i have a 350 watts coolermaster PSU.Do you think this PSU will be able to run a single 7870 or should i opt for something which draws less power ?

WOW that psu post really killed my ideas...

just searched newegg and found these:
OCZ ZT Series 650W Fully-Modular 80PLUS Bronze - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817341051

Rosewill HIVE-650 650W - http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182132

you would need a new psu first to support anything better than your current graphics card

then at your current resolution, the Radeon HD 7850 would give you the best increase in gaming as games within the last 5 years are mostly single threaded so your cpu would work rather damn well.

If you could I would recommend that you get a 2GB ver of the 7850 just in case you decide to upgrade your monitor in the future.

after that change your cpu to the i5-3470, but check if your mobo has a bios flash to make ivy bridge compatible
