[UPDATED AB B18] Team Skyn3t's Unlocked NCP4206 Voltage / LLC mod tool - Page 20

post #191 of 1360
I don't see why you would WANT to run at such a high OC for 24/7? A more sedate OC of 1200MHz or so should be adequate for most typical gaming sessions on a GK110 card I would think, especially since you are air cooled. I don't even run any OC's on my Titans for gaming, only benches...

I wouldn't run more than 1.25v on air if I were you. biggrin.gif
post #193 of 1360
I went ahead and used the softmod,
[Settings]
VDDC_Generic_Detection=0
VDDC_NCP4206_Detection=3:20h,
To test if my GTX780 would stabilize higher vlocks with reasonable volts. And yes it will.

I can now get a actual readout as well in stead of just VDDC readout. So, it seems a GTX780 has a LOT of vdroop meaning 1.212v is actually just ~1.165v loaded.

It used to do 1215Mhz @ 1.212v VDDC. Now I got it up to 1254Mhz @ 1.238v which loaded is exactly 1.200v.

Used a fan profile that just rams it to 100% above 50C so that when I game it's always @ 100%.

I ran Valley as a temp indication for 30 minutes, max temp 70c, average temp 68c*.

Is this runnable considering VRM's as well IF this proves stable in-game?

* This is with the nVidia reference cooler.

I cant help it but I think something is wrong with raising voltage in MSI AB. I got the same - when I set 1.200v it will do like 1.179v in load. and this is with LLC tweak on.

On the other hand, when I raise voltage in EVGA preciX (although only to 1.212v with moded bios) it actualy do exactly 1.212v and I measured it with not only evga precx graph, but also gpu-z and even msi ab graph...

any ideas ?

Yeah that's because with 1.212v it's VDDC it reads out and with the NCP4206 deterction mod it reads actual value's.

I measured it with a DMM and the value displayed AFTER the mod, aka the dropped value, is correct.

so if I get it right:

when I run MSI AB (wuthout adding the lines in .cfg) or evga precX it is reading 1.212v, but it actually is still fluctuating

and when I add lines to .cfg file, it is reading "right" voltages including the fluctuations ?

it would make sense, but how is it than possible, that there is many screens, which shows the right desired values without any kind of this fluctuations at all ?

Precision X, GPU-Z etc don't read from the NCP4206 chip, it reads from drivers which are always wrong.

Using AB with the LLC mod on doesn't give vdroop. It actually gives you an extra 0.025v on top of your entered voltage. I have no idea how you can be running my mod with LLC disabled and are getting vdroop, it must be precision X interfering or something.

Exactly my friend! IMHE i dont like having AB and precisionX intstalled and active, last time i had both installed i had constant BSOD with error 0x116 = Low IOH (NB) voltage, GPU issue (most common when running multi-GPU/overclocking GPU) as soon i uninstalled precisionx it went away!
Voltage control must be handled by only one program not more!
that´s my opinion anyway!

Cheers all

ok seems like it was precx guys:

here is a shot from now:

I set my core voltage 1.3v and with llc tweak active, it only droppped to 1.294v. that is normal guys right ? smile.gif
