X79 board with 1-4-7 spacing for Tri-SLI

Are there any X79 boards out there that support Tri-SLI with a 1-4-7 spacing, e.g. with an empty slot between three dual-slot cooler video cards?

I just picked up a third GTX Titan ($797 customer return at my local MC) and of course there's not much breathing room between the three boards. If I could replace my MB with one that has a empty slot between them, I'd be pretty stoked.

I know ASROCK has a custom SLI bridge for 1-4-7 spacing. Is that for use with their Extreme11 board?

Anybody know if the P9X79-E WS or Rampage IV Extreme support such a configuration?

Jammed in tight! =)

Bump.

Nobody running 1-4-7 spacing with Tri-SLI on X79? Sad-face. LOL.

The EVGA x79 Dark has the spacing for it, but I don't know if it will run on it. The details on newegg appear to say you can run any of the three lanes at x8. You'd have to get someone else to verify this. I don't know about the x79 WS or the RIVE.

I think the Rampage IV Extreme can do that. At first glance you see the slots spaced like the Formula for 4x SLI usage, but if you notice carefully there is a grey slot between the 2 middle red slots so you can use the first red slot, the grey slot and the last red slot to do what you want.

The only disadvantage I guess would be that in this arrangement you would have 16-8-8 bandwidth when it is possible to have 16-16-8 in a board spesifically tailored for your use. They could have accomplished that by setting the last slot as the second x16 capable one so you could do 16-8-16 in your situation, but this would leed to a weird arrangement for dual SLI that would force you to use the first an last slots so they figured it was much rarer a scenario than yours...

In any case, if you are good with 16-8-8 it has the spacing for you...

by the way what is your cpu overclock?
I have 3930k at 4,5ghz and 3 titans, the cpu oc is the bottleneck...

Just a side note: Make sure the slots support the configuration electrically: For example, if the board uses PLX / lane splitters it could feature a bypass slot (I think the Z87X-OC Force has one, just an example) On the other hand: the LGA 2011 has like 40 lanes? So it's possible that they didn't need to create a bypass slot. /random-stupid-thoughts tongue.gif
