Best sound card? - Page 6

Thread Starter
Thanks for all the input guys....I get lots of money all the time.... so not worried about it.

Not trying to sound elitist or nothing just want something that I well enjoy

But I also don't want to be a dumb buyer haha.....

Which is why I ask for your assistance redface.gif

I am confused why so many people want me to get a sound card.

When I could get A nice setup like this?

Is the sound quality not that much better with the setup I listed?

Meier Corda Classic

HE-500

Isn't this a way better audio setup for music + games ?

Thank you for the patience...

lolz... this stuff gets really confusing...

At least I have a good idea what headphones I want now it seems -_-

Honestly, you don't really seem to know what you want. I doubt you will notice any difference at all between a dac and a soundcard. Do you consider yourself and audiophile? Do you listen to music critically? Look, I think you are getting sucked into the idea of expensive being better. I consider myself to be somewhat of an audiophile, and I run a 40 dollar xfi xtreme gamer from 6 years ago with my 150 dollar headphones, and it sounds amazing.

Trust me, just get something sub 100 dollar soundcard and I promise you you will be more than satisfied and will wonder why on earth you considered a dac. And if you have all this money claim you have to throw around, get a relatively cheap soundcard and test that out first. If you truly want to blow your money still, then go for a dac. I don't think you will be disappointed at all with a sound card.

They are just throwing their money around/ trying to impress people online. which is the reason they think they need to put "I got the money" in every post they make.

There is nothing wrong with spending thousands of dollars on audio if you are passionate about the music you listen to (or even just audio equipment, which the OP isn't)

OP says he doesn't even listen to music all that often and will not even say what music he listens to (which is important for figuring out the right setup)

But to spend thousands of dollars just to "hear people coming behind me trying to knife me" is just crazy.

The OP started saying that money if of no issue, but post an option for around 500 dollars, then got some attention for it, so he bumps the setup to around 1k dollars, then 3k+ and now he has gone down on what he wants to spend. All while making sure to let everyone know how much money he has to spend and that he is not afraid to do it. He will not put a set price range on what he wants to spend and is just going back and forth on the cost of the setup.

If you are gaming you should not be buying audiophile grade dacs and amps, you need something more gaming oriented with virtual surround sound like a xonar card (which aren't expensive)

Give a price range (maybe say 500-1000, 1000-1500 or so on) and tell people what music you listen to.

I am surprised that people are fine flip flopping along with the OP.

You haven't overstayed your welcome, a lot of people here just don't see the point in spending thousands of dollars when several hundred will do the exact same thing. That's all.

For your needs, you don't need to spend thousands of dollars.

Holy guys, have more respect for your fellow OCNers and new members. Honestly. I never once saw a troll in this thread other than a few people who weren't the original poster.

You havnt overstayed your welcome. But its just like I said earlier, more expensive does not mean better really when it comes to audio(might catch flak for this but its true). Unless you are a audiophile who lives on music/does it for a living, just get a soundcard for $ 100 bucks or less and invest in a pair of headphones < $200. I guarantee you will be more than pleased with the sound.

I have a 6 year old soundcard that I bought for 40 bucks, its a creative xfi-xtreme gamer and I also have a cheap pair of rosewill headphones that were listed at around 20 bucks off newegg. I paired the two and played music, and guess what it, sounded fantastic. I then plugged in my 150 dollar denons and they honestly were not all that different.

Investing in a dac and 300+ dollar headphones is a massive waste of money for what I think your uses are. Casual music listening + gaming does not require expensive equipment.

I suppose some of us were taking this thread too seriously, but I think the problem is we are blown away by your willingness to spend a ton of money of something that is completely unnecessary for your uses.
