do I have to run magician in background to keep rapid mode enabled

Just installed a Samsung 840EVO 250Gb. Went into Magician and enabled Rapid mode.

Do I have to keep samsung magician running (i.e. start it on bootup and click through UAC) for this mode to remain active?
the magician client software interferes with some games (e.g. Rome 2) so I've stopped running it.
