Undecided between two SSHDs

Hello,
I have a new notebook, which has a 120GB SSD which I use for my personal OS, plus a 750GB 7200rpm with a 300GB school partition.
One thing I immediately noticed, is that the HDD is really slow. Maybe I'm just used to SSD speeds, but it's kinda sad that I have to work on such a slow machine (considering I have a pretty decent notebook, ASUS G55VW).
So, I am searching for a fast SSHD (since SSDs are still too expensive, I need 300GB of space), and I didn't find many. I am undecided between the Seagate Seagate Momentus XT 750, which is 7200rpm, and the Seagate 1TB Solid State Hybrid Drive which runs at 5400rpm only.
Now, I don't mind the extra 250GB since I'm probably not going to use it anyways. I was wondering, which one of the two is going to be faster? I know the first one is 7200rpm, but I have heard that the 5400rpm one has updated algorithms and is the second generation.
I am going to use it mostly to program and use softwares like Visual Studio and such.

Before you get an SSHD, why not try using RAM caching software first? Or even better, a RAM disk for active projects?

What do you mean by RAM caching? I have a W7 OS in the 300GB partition and am probably going to use different VM's at once, so a RAM disk wouldn't be the best choice I think.
Since I have about 50GB of SSD space left, I was also wondering if it was possible to use that space for caching. Do you know if that's possible? I know Intel has some software about that.

PrimoCache (formerly FancyCache). As for using the rest of your SSD for caching via Intel RST, I'm pretty sure I saw a guide here somewhere for using the same SSD for OS and cache.

Yeah I noticed that, will try it in the next days. I also couldn't find a place to buy it, I only found the buy page for their other software, Primo RamDisk.
EDIT: I created a 4GB RAM cache and a 30GB SSD cache. Does the software learn everything from boot, of just inside Windows?
