"overclocking" the HZ of your monitor?

Thread Starter
I recently got a new monitor, the LA2405wg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824176141 and I just noticed it runs only at 60hz. I saw a program that can clock it to like 70/75, but I was advised not to do so by a friend. What do you guys think? Is it fine? Or is it a stupid idea that could break it?

edit: this is the website that talks about overclocking it http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/31526-overclocking-your-monitor-refresh-rate-amd-gpus/

You can also take a look over some of the more popular monitor overclocking threads like the Qnix club and Catleap 2B overclocking for some good detailed info. Overall YES you can try and OC your monitor and it is not going to break anything(no has to date rather than having to boot with another monitor to get the picture back and then move back to the monitor your trying to overclock after a bad overclock). I was going to just get you some quick links but it took awhile since there is a TON of mis-information on the net regarding this and i was appalled by the ridiculous things people make up about monitor overclocking.

It is possible your monitor has a locked refresh at 60hz but you wont know till you try. Please just read about what you are doing before overclocking. thumb.gif

My monitor is locked at 60hz frown.gif When I used CRU it told me 65hz was out of it's range. Oh well.
