Aero won't start from cold boot

I know it isn't a drivers issue, I have switched from AMD to Nvidia and it is still happening.

From a cold boot (either just turning it on in the morning or pressing the reset button on the case) it will boot up and when I log in aero reverts back to the basic "fake aero" blue and I can't apply aero settings. If I let the computer boot to the login screen and then restart windows from their it boots up fine. I have no idea what could be causing this.

Any ideas?

Have you run the WEI test (Windows Experience Index) again? That's basically what determines whether or not your computer is capable of handling Aero.

I'll try it, I haven't run it in a long time and I have the automatic run for it turned off so that could be it.

EDIT: even without refreshing it though the scores for GPU are both 7.9 and CPU is 7.6

EDIT2: Just ran it, will find out in the morning.

Nope, didn't work, even when I go to run the WEI it says it can't run due to insufficient GPU or something like that.
