Installing Windows 7 on a clean hard drive

Thread Starter
So I bought a new 1TB Hard Drive for my computer and Im looking to install Windows 7 on it. Now my question is, can I use my 3 Windows 7 recovery disks on a fresh hard drive? Or do I have to use the official Windows 7 install disk?

I'm not sure, but y'know, I would try the 3 recovery discs because everything else is the same except for the hard drive.

You should be fine. The make/size of the drive shouldn't matter, all that the installation discs see is an open drive ready to be installed onto. There is no harm in trying.

I think the question is, can he use the 3 recovery discs he made in Windows 7 a while back on this fresh, brand new hard drive that has never been used before, or does he have no choice but to start over fresh by using the Windows 7 installation DVD?
