LCD/Plasma Maker Recommends Plasma

Panasonic, the consumer electronics company owned by Matsu****a Electric Industrial, is the world’s biggest seller of plasma TVs. And it has long extolled the benefits of that technology compared with L.C.D., another flat-panel TV product. At the same time, the company sells a full line of L.C.D. sets.
Quote:
This holiday, Panasonic went a step further, running an ad in newspapers around the country under the heading “Six facts you need to know before you buy a large flat-panel TV.†The ad points out plasma’s superior contrast, color rendition, crisp motion, viewing angle and durability when compared to L.C.D. TVs.

Basically - Panasonic makes both LCD and Plasma TV's and recommends plasma over LCD. Is it because of better tech or better margins tho

I think theyre just trying to sell more plasmas. A lot of other manufacturers are getting out of the plasma business and goint to LCD. Plasmas are more expensive to manufacture and they tend to get burn-in.

Please name these a lot of manufacturers. (please don't say Sony as they got out of plasma 1.5 years ago, because their plasma wasn't that good and they did not have their own plant.)

Topic: Panasonic is saying that due to the fact that at 37" and above is a big market and in that market they only make plasmas. Plasma and lcd is up to the choice of the consumer, one's better for a room with natural light, the other is better for dimmer viewing.

Plasma can get a burn-in, but you can prevent it. LCD is just a lot harder to get a burn-in than a plasma.

Same concept as with CRT monitors. Leave the same image on-screen for too long and it gets burned in.
