This thing looks like it's made almost entirely of metal and it has a 500W flex psu in it.

I think it looks pretty nice. The front panel is a bit bland in my opinion, odd power button placement directly in the middle... but overall looks like a decent case.

Premium price? Where?

Metal case with a 500w 80+ Gold PSU for $190 sounds pretty decent to me.

My SG05-Lite and ST45SF-G together cost $140. And the SG05-Lite is $40 which is arguably one of the best cases for the price and size, so I'll ask the real question... why does Lian-Li, Corsair, Bitfenix, etc think they can charge such a premium for their products? I'm furious at this! The enthusiast computer market is so frustrating!

Looks like a nice HTPC case except:

I spy a 40mm fan on the PSU, I wonder how loud that is.

500 gold rated PSU, and a premium mini ITX case, made of metal.....Not overcharging at all IMO. Go pick out a ITX case made of metal and a Gold rated EVGA power supply and it will equal roughly what this costs, or at lease dang close.

Loud? My 80PLUS 350W 1U PSU isn't really loud @ full power
Let alone a Gold PSU @ full power, which i doubt you could really pull with the sort of GPUs and cooling gear you can put in there ...

Keep in mind that Supermicro has 1kW and beyond 1U PSUs and even 1.8kW PSUs! so this is already very tame

That isn't going to be quite loud and isn't semi-modular. Right.

Pass.
I don't see fixed cables as a problem.

A PSU of that caliber probably doesn't come with too many cables to spare, so you are pretty much going to utilize every piece of connection available anyway.

I disagree. I think I see at least 2 (one of which is double, so that may mean 3) 4-pin Molex connectors. These days, next to no hard drive, SSD, or even optical drives use them, they are all SATA power, so to me, that is just wasted and ugly wire. But then again, I am a cable sleever, so I am biased.

But that is just secondary to me. My main complain is the case itself. It just looks "cheap". The front leg look tack welded on, the gaps are large, and the whole case just doesn't sit right in my opinion because to me it's "missing" the back leg. Most likely they put the front leg on there to allow air to be drawn up from the bottom, but they could have made the case more symmetrical by putting the back leg on and achieving the same result.

Just personal taste. I love EVGA products, especially their video cards and motherboards. I have limited experience with their power supplies, but so far so good. I just don't see me spending my money on this case though. I think they have a bit further to go to realize what the enthusiast wants in a case.

What's the front panel? It's glossy like plastic?

Odd. I seem to have both and they are pretty much pure win.

On topic: It looks good, but dat price...

interested to see how the hydro version pans out compared with the prodigy.

from the looks of things, only a fatty 240mm or 280mm rad at the top.
