crossfire with HD 7790

Thread Starter
well as topic says was looking to run a 2ed card with my HD7790 or get a solo card.

reason i was looking to do the 2 cards was cost. insted of having to sink another 200$ in a solo card i can spend half that and get a 2ed card.

dose the cross fire have any issues or should i just bite the perverbal bullet and get something like the 7950 solo?

In general, it's better to go with 1 card. Saves space, easier to cool, and uses a bit less power than two cards (not to mention dealing with crossfire profiles).

Seeing that the 7950 is going for around $250 right now, it'd be hard not to sell the 7790 and use the scratch to grab one of those instead of crossing up. And if the 79xx seems slow in the next year or so, it would be easier to find another to cross with than a 77xx card would be.

If at all possible, wait until the Volcanic Islands launch. Price drops are likely to follow for both AMD and Nvidia stuff.

Hope this helps!
