The only games I see right now that are uber intensive are games I don't play much of (FPS) and if I do, it's on consoles. (Modern warfare etc)
Not that MMOs aren't intensive, they just seem to use a bit less gpu and a bit more cpu and ram. I'm currently playing ffxiv and intend to for a long time. That and some wow. Assuming eq next doesn't steal me away, but that's up in the air. Either way between those 3 (maybe wildstar too!) that covers my gaming habits for the next several years. Anything else will be played on a console (specially with the new ones coming out this winter).
I currently get an average 70 or so fps with all maxed in ffxiv at 1080p. Highest is 100 lowest I've seen is mid 40s. This is with 3 as my 4th isn't here yet. (Hopefully today!)
This goes without saying, I do like to benchmark from time to time and I can't argue that trying new games just to see how they perform isn't fun. Naturally max settings is always ideal
If I went the card route, I'm eyeballing 2 780s or 2 titans (used), anyone see either as being the better investment? The titan obviously has a ton of VRAM but as we have already been over, if I buy those - with my 1080p monitor id reckon it will be a lateral movement. Futureproofing is a great point, however with that in mind, Maxwell should be out in Q1 of 2014 and it will obviously be faster. Wouldn't doubt it will have 6gb of VRAM itself.
This is why I'm pushing so hard for the monitor(s). If I scoop up a new model, it won't have a successor or likely large improvement for years to come.
The problem is of course - a monitor isn't a performance upgrade and we all want faster pcs and that I can't for the life of me determine whether I should buy a 1600p or several smaller monitors. Advice in that area would be stellar!
Not to mention any sites which specialize in multi display stands or setups to buy or see pics of. That stuff seems hard to find.
I have someone talking to me via PM about one of my z87 boards and my 4770k so I may potentially be working with 1900. I have refrained from selling extras as I like to have spare parts. But after being bitten with the upgrade bug, holding onto them will only serve to depreciate their value so I digress!
Thanks again for all the input. Thus far exactly what I'm looking for. I really appreciate y'all taking the time!
