It is solved in Srgb mode but it's something you need to adjust to.In order to see the power you will need check our 1440p vs 1600p i7-930 vs 3930 vs 4930k thread with 1-2-3-4way titans
Next topic $1,500, if you upgrade to the 30" You are out $899 (deals on the U3014), if you are in the east coast there may be better deals..
Monitor aside what would I upgrade with $1500, seems you already upgrade the CPU/Mobo. Ram wise you have 8GB and your PSU is plenty powerful.
Case wise ROCK OUT!
I have the Pc-70 USB and would love to see what you have done with yours 8-)Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Other parts wise see here:GPU: EVGA GTX480 x3
I could be very wrong but if I had a choice I would consider changing your GPU's. The 480's are very power hungry ( I had a GTX 460 before), you can get a good deal on 770'sRAM
4gb x2 adata 1600 - I would consider moving to 16GB if you have extra cashHard Drive:128gb x2 crucial M4 SSD -
You are good here for your OS Drive. I would recommend if you can to get a data Drive like a 1 - 3TB drive for your other movie/mp3/miscLian-Li PC 60B Mid Tower w Window (
- I say why ditch it, the 3 most important thigns in any setup are: 1. Monitor, 2. Case, 3. PSU. 4. Chair (haha) If you do these 3 things right they can last 5+ years. In your case and mine our case lasted almost a decade. Not bad and it's still good. Monitor we'll discuss nextDell S series 27" 1080p monitor
Where do you live? You can get the Viewsonic 27" for $400-$600, Monoprice, catleap and a few other vendors sell 27/30" 1440p monitors in the same range as well. Dell will give you a good warranty, but you can go squaretrade.Mouse Logitech wireless mouse MX-
For your uses, go Razer Naga, Razer Deathadder 2013, or the Tapei. Will cost you $50-$79
Feel free to ask more questions. If you do plan to go waterblocks and stay with SLI. Why don't you take your hard earned cash do a few small upgrades save the extra money for more stuff down the road?
Edit: In regards to the posters questions about Titans not being worth it. They are ONLY
worth it if you are are doing high res gaming think 1600p, 4k and/or surround in my case Titans are definitely needed 1600p surround.
tyvm for the thorough post! just got to it lol. In all fairness - you broke down what I mostly already know! You did nudge me in a few specific directions though - so that I appreciate. I just need to be convinced of ONE lol. I am from SE MI (Detroit specifically) and I haven't found any "good" deals on the 3014 yet. Luckily cuase if I had, I would probably have already pulled the trigger. I will get up some pics of my build perhaps this evening. The case has seen better days, it has been modded, then modded over in order to support different radiators over the years. I'm running dual thick's which obviously don't fit well in a mid tower so its not as handsome as it could/should be. Problem is it was supposed to be a temporary upgrade in order to play ffxiv and I was going to begin a new pc soon thereafter. it has now gotten out of control and basically become a new pc itself =P
My 4th gtx 480 arrived today so im gonna put that in tomorrow and see what it changes, if anything. Regardless of what I upgrade, I wont be selling the 1500w psu, for whomever suggested that. I like being futureproof, plus it came w/ a 10 year warranty ***? lol. As far as adding a large drive for data - I didn't deem that important to add, but I already do have 2 1gb WD's in raid 0 as storage to compliment the SSDs. I was just considering upgrading the ssd's due to the fact that obviously more storage is good, but moreso 256's are innately faster than 128's for one (although not sure how much or if its enough to be worth it) as well as the fact that the M4's are old, I bought them due to price - and there are also faster models out there.
I'll be upgrading the ram to faster ram and to 16 or maybe even 32 regardless. May happen after the larger upgrade(s) but it will happen soon thereafter. The issue is - I was fortunate enough to come into some cash, and as I mentioned, I rarely have a large chunk of money at once >500. I don't save well and we have a lot of bills. I feel it wise to take advantage of the fact I have a chunk and buy the larger more expensive items while I can. I can get together 300 much more easily later on to upgrade my memory.
That leaves me with the gpu's vs monitors debate. If monitors the 30" vs 27"x23 vs 24"x5 debate. Perhaps instead of talking in circles and adding another 5 pages to this thread, we should focus on that =) I don't wanna keep ya'll =P
If you look at the gtx 480x4 and the 27" 1080p monitor, with a now 1600 dollar budget (unless I sell my haswell+mobo (I have a spare) would you upgrade your gpu and have a low res display. Or upgrade your display and get the gpu's a bit later? perhaps one by one?
If you see that anything the way I see it, the only smart option seems to be the latter? Which leaves me with display choices. I have this weird desire to always go larger, so apart from feeling weird about moving laterally from 27" to 27" I am open to any and all suggestions. Ive seen some 5x24" in portrait and it looked amazing. Ive seen some 3x27" that look really nice as well. By that same token - I can remove the "weird" issue I have and go bigger with a 30" which will afford me a much better reso, a bigger screen, and allow me to add more for multi display in the future. That only costs me the "cool factor" of having multi display now =P
Which viewsonic were you referring to? Which combination would afford me the best combination of monitor(s) with my budget? If people didn't refer to the "Korean" monitors as "Korean" monitors, and by brand, I may have been long sold on those. Now I have this idea that they are cheap (quality wise) ingrained so deeply im struggling. Which revision 3014 do you have? A03 by chance? those in the wild yet? Sigh - perhaps a sale in the right place would convince me of one thing or the other!
Any sites I should be checking besides ebay and newegg?
I am considering 3 x gtx780 btw for those that are very pro gpu. If I find them at the right price, I may just pull that plug and then save save save for a monitor later. chances are, im trying to get a secksie display setup now though.
more feedback? =) I love you guys!! bare with me!!Edited by klepp0906 - 9/12/13 at 6:48am
