You're using a FPS game that's notoriously hard on video cards, probably the most demanding game out at the moment, to justify spending money needlessly on another video card when by your own admission you only spend 5% of your time playing FPS games. Do you see the illogic of that? You're talking about playing MMOs primarily, which are some of the least demanding games so that they can have the largest number of gamers.

So here's what you do: sell your closet full of gear, buy 2 waterblocks for your GPUs, buy a new mouse that you said you need, buy a fan to replace the one that doesn't run right. Take the rest of the money that's left after all that and put it under your mattress (or wherever you stow your cash).

Then you go to your local Dell web page and sign up for their mailing list, its annoying but the one advantage to it is that you get notice the next time they start their "12 days of deals." Then you check their site daily during those 12 days because on one of those days that 30" monitor that you've been holding your cash for will be the cheapest that you've seen it. At that point you can spend the money you've been sleeping on for half a year, because by then you should have enough saved up to be able to buy it.

In the meantime, stick with what you have.

Hey now, ffxiv is fairly demanding! Takes my 480s down to 40fps in areas at 1080p tongue.gif
Tbh so does wow lol. While raiding with 8x aa on anyhow tongue.gif

Plus eq3 is around the corner and I reckon that's gonna be a doozy! Still you speak with wisdom, no denying that. The only issue I'm facing is patience! Man is that a really large doorwall sized issue!

Man that naga epic mouse is sweet but I can't use that with my grubby old keyboard!
I couldn't deal with using a new mouse when I still need a case and some cards to finish this baby off - let alone gaming at 1080p! I gotta veto the mouse idea for now lol. I'd be lying if I haven't thought about a case + all the small stuff a few times already though.

I'm just afraid if I don't do the display now I maaaay be stuck with 1080p for awhile frown.gif

All that stuff aside, lets say I went with a monitor(s) - I'm still trying to get real world feedback on a few things.

I can get 2 more S2740L right now which leaves me at 1080p but does give me one hell of a panarama.
I can swap out my S2740L and get a 1440p monitor.
I can get a 30" 1600p

Anyone use 3 1080 or 1200 displays? The low res ever bother you? The novelty and screen-estate ever make you feel like you could never go without it?

What about the opposite? Anyone find that it wore off and it isn't worth it? Ever feel the itch to go bigger? Lack of pixels worth going back to 1 higher res display?

Anyone used both? 1600p and tri 1080p? Preference and why?

Finally, same distance viewing. Is 1440p a subtle or not so subtle difference from 1080p? What about 1440p to 1600p? Can you even tell?

Oh! And if I go 27 1440p (so I can still afford waterblocks) does anyone recall which monitor everyone is hitting 120hz on? Or is it basically all of them?

I'd tell you guys I love ya, but that would be weird huh?

Think we basically answered your questions already.

It's your budget 1600p 30" monitors are a premium. 1440p korean models can work for you. Personally for me I went 22" CRT to dual 23" I loved the dual 23" Samsung 2333T's too bad no one wants to buy them from me lol, and went to a 27" returned it and got a 30" never looked back bought a few more.

I am 100% completely satisfied with my 30" 1600p monitor decision made back in December 2012. The huge increase in vertical and horizontal resolution makes my day job much more productive (web developer) and gaming at 30" 1600P is da bomb. Of course, you're going to need decent GPU hardware to run it at acceptable frame rates, but that's part of the game, isn't it?

Using my old 24" 1920x1200 monitor on my wife's PC hurts worse than pulling teeth. It's OK for web browsing, but when I have to do some development work from her PC, it's like writing a novel on 3x5" index cards.

That's what ya need. 30" monitor, and three Titans. =)
