Curious about single card w/ dual gpu... - Page 3

Lol. You know, i really don't know. The only thing i can think of is rarity and nostalgia.

I mean there are collectors of anything you can think of and i know there are collectors of GPUs.

Hell, I've always got some niche I'm collecting. Right now it's Revolutionary War weapons.

Maybe I can sell my old Voodoo card stealth-wing cooler. That will take you back.

Look it up, I sold my old Voodoo 5 64bit for a pretty penny on eBay.

The same when I sold my XFX 6990 Black Edition.

I completely forgot about that 3dfx actually had consumer 64bit gpu's... I wonder why no one else ever came out with more 64 bit gpu's... Considering CPUs are 64 bit and all. But I guess then again, most systems are still too complacent to 32 bit...

Did I say "bit"? I meant MB. The Voodoo 5 came on either a 32mb card or a dual GPU card 64mb.

They declared bankruptcy months after the release of the Voodoo 5 and sold the rights to Nvidia.

There were a number of Voodoo 5 128mb cards made as well that were a quad GPU card. This never went into production but they made enough of them that you can see one pop up every now and again for sale.

You cant get AresII anymore, i tried looking but to no avail. And yes dual cards dont depreciate in value as much as single cards, look at the gtx 590 and hd6990

Actually, if I remember correctly the did have an actually 64 bit gpu, but had to dumb down to 32 bit before entering the pic lanes because it was 32 bit... Correct me if I'm wrong...
