Dancing Iridescence - PC-Q30 - Update 4th, March 2014 - Final Assembly - Page 4

Oh and do you have any thoughts of going with rigid tubing? Or just staying with regular tubing.

I was planning on doing hard lines of some sort. I used it for the first time in a Staff Build for the mod zoo and it wasn't too bad. I have bought some fittings for rigid, clear acrylic tubing, and UV orange acrylic tubing. I may end up going with copper tubing instead, as it may work better with the color on the side panels. One of those things, we'll see once I get that far, I guess.

But more concisely yes, hard lines of some sort. On the outside, I'll probably stick with regular tubing, as I wouldn't want to have one of them get in the way of any motherboard I/O ports.

Just because I’m making sure I don’t let this go stagnant for too long, I’ve got another quick little update. I kept going back and forth on how to run the tubing, how to position the pump and drain, and where to put the bulkheads. So I just thought “Let’s just put them here, and go for it”. So I did; and totally in the wrong spot from what I meant to smile.gif

First I decided to do a drain out the back, next to the PSU. There is a valve inline, so there’s more than just the plug there. (Also thinking after looking at this shot, I’ll probably end up painting the white MNPCTech White Delrin Case Feet in some sort of copper color, probably.

Now these were the two that I put in the wrong spot. Well, I put one in the wrong spot, and then copied it so it didn’t look as awkward. I meant to put these in the other corners, closer to the front.

I think I’m still ok with the placement, though. I just thought I’d want more clearance above the motherboard.

I’ll be adding either 45 or 90 degree fittings where just the compression fittings are currently; though I don’t really mind this look that much.

It’s going to be a bit of a squeeze, but here’s the positioning of the res-pump combo. The inlet and outlet are on the front, and I’ll probably be using 90 degree fittings even though I’ll be doing hardlines.

Then hopefully next time I’ll have an update with those side panels. They made a field trip to Bill’s shop, and we epoxied them to my acrylic substrate using Bill’s secret sauce (also known as 3M Scotch-Weld DP-190).

That’s it for this one, as always thanks for checking it out! And Happy Holidays!

Looks awesome... thumb.gif

But I agree a 90 or 60 degree adapter might make it even better.

Thanks Warp! I've got a few different colors of tubing to try out too. Going to pick up more angled fittings, and see what I like. I've got a bit of time, as I'm hoping to see what the expected January 14th APU release brings

More questions: will there be a GPU in this build? If so, will it be part of the loop?
And I am excited for Kaveri as well. Although the lack of new FX 8-core processors puts a bit of a damper on the whole thing.

GPU or no GPU... well, I guess my answer is that depends on what Kaveri has in store biggrin.gif I was originally planning on this build having an A10-6800k with no GPU, but figured I'm close enough (and far enough from being done with the build) that I might as well wait. If it ends up not happening, then I'll likely end up using a low power i3 and lower end GPU. I have a 4GB GT 640 and a universal block that I'd use so a GPU would be included in the loop. Thanks for all the interest and comments thumb.gif

Not a whole lot of progress in this update. I just made some little details on the front piece, and then began work on the side panels67jnKg
