OC Noob needs help (Sapphire 7970 OC) - Page 3

No. BIOS 1 is very stable (Using for months). 950mhz core and 1425mhz memory @ 1.025v. It is still factory overclocked but no in boost state (obviously). I guess i'll just have to stick with it till i hopefully get a 780 by christmas or next year.

Just had 2 rounds of TDM in BF3, no crashes, no artifacts, no tearing.

To be honest with you, if i had a choice between having 10~20 frames more and potentially destroying my hardware, i'd rather go with not even overclocking at all.

If i might have wasted your time here, i apologise.

Hey man your arent wasting my time at all!~ Iam glad I could be of some assistance but if you do end-up getting the 780 ( 4 christmas) what do you plan to do with this card then? I would say your card at stock levels schould be able to chew-up battlefield 3 without having to overclock~ Hell I can BARELY beat your 1 7970 with my 2 6970s! Thats a powerful card, and sometimes it is better to play it safe I agree:thumb:

Initially, i decided to overclock my card because i am getting a bit of stuttering on my card at 1920x1080. But since it isn't a 120/144hz monitor, i'd rather just leave it at its safe factory overclock.

I have what the OP is trying to ask for help.

1) GPU not stable on 1000/1450 @ 1.025v (Power Li on/off). Can't even push it further
2) Artifacts remain even after turning clocks down.

If you aren't a TLDR person, its worth checking out! Odd to me, to see a nearly identical post on the internet.

Bit of a update here, found out the stable settings for this card on boost mode.

From the Sapphire forums, i came across a thread that a person mentioned about reply from Sapphire tech support ticket, raising the Board Power Li between 15-20% and setting the GPU on constant voltage. I tried raising the voltage a little but stayed at 1062mv and i can't get over that voltage for some reason. mad.gif

So.. I decided to test it with 1000/1450, 20% Power Control and constant voltage in Battlefield 3. Been playing for 2 hours now and there isn't any artifacts or crashing.

Hope this helps someone who sees this in the future and have the same problem. biggrin.gif:D:D

Also, i don't think i'll be getting another AMD hardware anytime soon. After looking at the EVGA 770 SC reviews, there's so much value in that card. Wished i held of a couple of months before purchasing my rig... axesmiley.png

Thats ok dude, theres always gonna be a faster card then yours or mine, Its just like that~ You may have the fastest gpu for 1 day then the hardware is always changing, the market is just like that! At any givin time Amd or Nvidia might have the fastest card on the market-But thats good for us, them competing= Benafits our community, Have you considerd getting another card for Crossfire? I have 6970 crossfire myself and i can tell you after the new driver 13.10 iam flying through games-No joke~ But i will be upgrading real soon myself so yeah I fell you!thumb.gif

Your 7970 can more then likely run eyefinity on single card, you may not max every game but ull be ever so close!~ Hell if i did it with my single 6970 at the time you can do it for sure!
