Counter Strike Global Offensive gaming rig for extremely tight budget

Thread Starter
hello everyone,
i am building a new pc for a friend...he is a csgo addict...his pc recently got busted and he wants me to build him one for just playing csgo and normal pc usage...his old rig was an lga 775 rig with a cheap intel pdc and a really really old nvidia gpu...so he would be getting a big upgrade just by buying a new pc..here is what i am planning on buying for him...
amd a4 4000(richland)
super cheap msi mobo
4gig ddr3 1333mhz
this processor has an igp which performs on par with the ati 5450..so would this proc w/ igp be enough for csgo gaming?..he is willing to lower down the settings and would be very happy if he could olay it on mid settings...now dont the a4 cpu's perform similarly as the sb/ivb pentiums except a4's have slower cpu speed and better igp?so would this be enough?...would this rig deliver good amount of fps?..as i have said before,he is willing to lower down the settings...

thanks in advance

I can play CS;GO on my i7 Sandy Bridge IGP, so I'm sure the A4 will hold out for him. And with recent updates the game is more GPU based then CPU based anyway.

Yeah but you get no where near stable FPS other than d2, and even then it drops hard if you get smoked/flashed. I've been playing go on my 4670k IGP the last month, and it's been horrible. Playing with 80FPS and MM was a nightmare, I didn't even dare play MM and only played on your local 128tick servers. I also couldn't awp at all. After switching to a 5850, I can awp fine and also play MM comfortably. The key is constant FPS.

@OP, try to get a good processor atleast an i3. I'm not sure whether that particular APU can maintain stable(constant) FPS even at low settings but you can ask around. Also a 5450 is very slow and only gives like 80-90FPS from what I've seen.

Well then we differ in personal experience, if I set the graphics to default I get stable FPS. And the reason why it has been horrible to play is not because of the IGP, but rather the .Net code problems and server lag that CS;GO servers have been experiencing for the last month.

And I have no idea how you complain about a CPU's IGP performance and then recommend a CPU with that exact IGP. He doesn't have money for a GPU, so it makes sense to AMD in this situation.

That we certainly do, but I'm not blaming the netcode/server lag at all. It was actually my FPS that hindered me or anybody using an IGP not capable of pushing a constant of 128FPS(under any circumstance). What I'm telling is that when I used to play in our local servers(which is hosted in our country), I get a maximum ping of 5-8ms, and it's almost like LAN. We play 5v5 everyday and it was a nightmare playing with the IGP, not being able to awp, then control spray, or turn quickly during flashes/smokes as the FPS would fall suddenly and the screen would start tearing. frown.gif

I recommended the i3 as a minimum CPU, and my bad I should have been more clear. If he doesnt have enough money, then get a GPU second hand. Sorry about that. The AMD setup would be more ideal in this case, but still check wether that particular APU can provide a good FPS for GO.

-Cheap LGA 1155 motherboard.
-Pentium G2120.
-Radeon 7750.
-Your choice of RAM.

All other parts can easily be obtained free.

Cheap but not so cheap that you will end up hating it or being forced to upgrade within a matter of months.

Just looked at some benchmarks the A4 will hold out at 30FPS for 1280*720 on low settings, so this may be the way to go. You can probably find the parts right here on OCN, or on Ebay.

30fps??..thats pretty bad...i heard that you need really high fps rates in cs gaming...30fps won't do..he can play at the lowest possible settings(720p)...so which apu would you recommend??...30fps wont be enough...so i guess i wont be picking up the a4 4000 for him....:/..he cant by 7750...

would the a4 4000 suffice for counter strike source??..would it deliver good fps(130+) on low settings??...and would the a4 4000 bottleneck 7750?...he also plays counter strike source..so he could just stop playing go for sometime, save up spme money and pair it with the a4 4000...and would a4 4000+7750 deliver good 130+ fps in csgo @ low settings-720p???...

Yes, you are correct, 30 FPS will not do. Do you have a dollar figure or budget? It helps a lot in working out the best decision.
