Advice needed on wc build

Hi,

I'm looking to build a new rig next month when I get paid and I'm looking for some advice as I've never attempted water cooling before. I have however built many PC's at home and work (We sell custom built PC's to businesses and home users along with IT support)

Asus Maximus VI Forumula - £247.00
Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 8GB (x2 4GB) 2133MHz (x2 packs) - £179.98
Intel Core i7 4770k - £267.80
Corsair Obsidian Super Tower 900D - £298.68
Samsung 250GB 840 Series Basic SSD - £131.10
OcUK Labs W16 Water Cooling Kit 480- £319.81
Toshiba 1TB Drive 3.5" 64MB Cache -£43
XSPC EX360 120mm Rad - £49.99
Corsair SP120 Twin Pack Quiet Edition (x3 packs) - £63.69
XSPC RayStorm Intel Faceplate (Red) - £2.99
Asus ROG Xonar Phoebus Soundcard- £146.05
Corsair AX860 80 Platinum Plus - £153.22
IC Diamond 7 Carat Thermal Compound 1.5G - £6.98
Rubber Hose & Soft Pipe Cutter - £8.99
Primochill Primoflex Advanced Tubing 16/11 Red (3metre) - £5.99
Mayhems X1 Clear Premixed- £0.00

Total £1,925.27

All the items I have listed above are priced from Scan or overclockersuk however mostly scan (anything scan didnt sell i went to OcUK for) My budget is around £2000? for the rig without gfx cards as I am awaiting AMD's new cards and I have a HD 7950 DD from XFX for now. I will also be reusing the ssd and 1tb drive off my current build so I have x2 ssds in raid-0 and x2 toshiba drives in raid-1.

Can anyone make any reccomendations to the parts ive selected if anything would be better to save money, However I don't mind spending £2k on a nice bad ass system smile.gif.

Another question I have is, How do I stop corrosion as I have seen threads where peoples water blocks have been destroyed by it. Will the kill coil stop that or do i need anti freeze?

I plan on using this dye Mayhems X1 UV Red Premixed Watercooling Fluid 1L

Thanks!

You want to run a 480 and a 360 rad for a 4770k and a single 7950? I am pretty sure you will see no temp gains from a single 480 to a 480 and a 360 for that setup. I like keeping fans to a minimum for cost and acoustics and the unneeded 360 is going to add unnecessary noise from 3 extra fans. Even if you go with two of AMDs new cards the XSPC 480 will give good temps. You will have to try pretty hard to saturate that 480 with enough heat to have to run the fans at a loud RPM. Just a suggestion for some savings, probably 70-90 Euro by cutting the 360 rad off? I would ask one of the PSU gurus on here about a PSU, I always see them recommending other PSUs over that AX860, that will probably save you another 30-50 Euro. 2cents.gif
