E6600 + RAM OC question

Thread Starter
Hey guys I have a couple questions about OC'ing with my current spec. My main concern is how my RAMs can handle the OC'ing. I'm currently using two sticks of DDR2 675. Right now I'm running my E6600 at 3.2ghz (356x9) with rams running at 712 (356x2) so my CPU:RAM is at 1:1. Looking at the RAM speed, does it look like the system is automatically OC'ing the RAMs to accommodate the E6600 running at 3.2ghz?

Do you think my RAMs can handle my C2D running at 3.6ghz?

Also, what is the minimum vcore required for a C2W clocked at 3.2ghz? I wanna lower the vcore as much as possible in order to lower the temp. Right now it's running at 45C idle.

Thanks, happy holidays!

I think you might get those sticks to run at 800mhz.

Try 400 x 9 with 1.45v with ram timings 0f 4-4-4-12

What cooling do you have coz 45c idle is a bit toasty

Yes, your system is automatically OCing your ram to match your processors bus speed. It's currently running at a 1:1 divider which is ideal.

Yea... I don't think I'm gonna go any higher than 3.2ghz right now, since the cooling is so unstable. I'm running my vcore at 1.325 and 45c idle tells you something is terrible wrong

I think i might get the 200 bucks water cooling from swiftech from newegg, install it, then try and push the E6600 to 3.6 with my lame 675s... I fear for my rams though... I really don't think they can handle being clocked at 800mhz for a prolonged period of time ><

I'll probably just live with my 6600 running at 3.4ghz. 2 sticks of DDR2 800 cost about 300 bucks and I simply don't have the budget for that after spending close to 750 bucks on upgrades (the asus board, E6600, and possibly a swiftech water cooling). Plus, when vista comes out in a month, there's apossibility that I might be buying a DX10 card, and you all know how expensive those are >_<

thanks for the help though.

ok now I was just reading up on people's comments on my 675 sticks on newegg, and some of they are saying they easily clocked them to 800 with 5-5-5-15 setting @2.0v. is that a good idea, the timing and voltage i mean?

also, how will OC'ing from 675 to 800 affect the longevity of those RAMs?
