Just ordered a Korean monitor! A few questions about overclocking

Thread Starter
I just ordered this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Perfect-Pixel-FREE-EXPRESS-X-STAR-DP2710LED-27-2560x1440-Samsung-PLS-Matte-/321135502506?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item4ac52ae4aa

I was wondering about overclocking it. I've watched a few videos, including Linus' on monitor overclocking. I heard that 120hz is attainable, but is that true? Does anyone have this monitor and have it overclocked?

Any info is greatly appreciated!

Yes, it's definitely attainable. However, some people report artifacting at 120HZ. On the other hand, some people report artifacting at 96hz. It's all a matter of preference really. I believe the Qnix QX2710 uses the same exact panel (correct me if I'm wrong), which I own and have OC'ed it to 120hz. However, I found some things I didn't like about the games I was playing and if you cannot do consistent 120 FPS, you might want to think about lowering it a bit. 96HZ is my sweet spot and looks amazing. You may find different results.

You're right, the Qnix uses the same panel. It's good to know that these can OC pretty well! Thanks for the reply broski!

Not a prob, bob.

Just make sure you experiment a little with the HZ. I'm sure you know this by now, but make sure to follow the instructions for your video card. There are different patchers when it comes to Nvidia cards that are older than the 5xx series. I just ordered a GTX760 4GB (do alot of 3D modeling and rendering) and I'm going to have to undo everything I just did to make sure it runs smoothly on that card compared to my old GTX470. Good news is that I'll have a GTX470 for sale here soon. Won't get much money for it, though.

Anyhow, as long as you follow the instructions to the T, you should be fine. Again, just experiment a little to find your "sweet spot".

I have a QNIX that runs fine at 96 Hz, I haven't tried taking it any higher as I don't have the graphics horsepower biggrin.gif The Only time I've ever seen artifacts is occasionally while playing Far Cry 3, though it could be the fact that Far Cry seems to hate GPU overclocks.

Did your monitors come with an adapter? I'm really hoping mine does so I don't have to order one since its from Korea

Ok sweet. I heard they have different plugs that go into the wall in Korea. As long as everything I need is in the box, I'm all set!
