SO, more testing testing, changed a few BIOS settings here and there, have 2T command rate now for ultimate stability (I think) - vDIMM up to 2.79, chipset voltage up to 1.68 or thereabouts. LDT voltage up to 1.3, vcore at 1.3 exact with almost ZERO flux, which makes me happy.

Max Async Latency changed to 8ns
not much noticable performance loss, priming now, last prime attempt errored in 4 hours, Im hoping for 8 or more this time around.

I grabbed 30 minutes EVEN on a superPI 32M run, and netted a 33.16s on 1M
OCCT stable, increased all 3 3DMark scores by 100 or more, no artifacting.

After I get stable for 8-10 hours Ill switch over to 92.91 drivers and bench from there, see if my overclock improves at all. (max temp is holding at 70-72C on the hottest card, so Im not worried yet, but cooler would be nice. Helllllooo zalman.)

Dude get a tuniq if you want really good cooling performance! Cheaper than the Zalmans too.

Ah I meant zalman for the vid cards, Id never put a Zalman atop my CPU, lol

Id love to get a tuniq but for that price point Id rather just get a stinger block and fab up a cheap bastard watercooling solution. Besides, I like this ACfreezer for 20bux its getting the job done quite well.

Ok Ive got about 20 new benches to upload... Ive done countless pi32M runs, nothing lowe than previous attempts, but also curiously enough no errors, but this processor REFUSES to run dual prime (large FFTs, max heat setting etc)
without core0 erroring within 8 hours, Ive never had core1 fail, however. (I usually stop it around 12-16hrs because I get ansty to try and figure out how to get core0 stable)

the really weird part is that core0 is running at LEAST 8C cooler than core1 AT ALL TIMES, so what gives, if its not a heat issue, not a RAM issue (havent had it fail a blend test yet, or fail memtest, or any other error that would point to RAM) core0 is being a real *****. Mind you Im at 278x9 (2503mHz) at DDR500 speeds with 2.5-3-3-7-2T (all timings are the same as found 4-6 posts above this one)
vcore is still stock (~1.32) but not set to auto as that gives a bit less instability for some odd reason. Ive upped the LDT voltage and chipset voltage as far as they will go, so its not that either... maybe Ive just hit a weird spot here on core1 and once I increase/decrease the bus it will stop acting like a `tard?

Other than core0 erroring which is no new thing to me, the temperature difference in cores is ridiculous (ive heard of 2 other members with opterons speak of this problem, I do not think that Core Temp AND SpeedFan AND Everest are mis-reporting (although speedfan ONLY shows the temp of core1, Core Temp shows both)

As I type this I am dual priming again, core0 is at 43-44C load and core1 is at 55C load fluctuating down as low as 52C, and it has hit 56C a couple times, but hardly worth noting at this point.

I guess the only GOOD way to fix this problem is to remove the IHS, but I cant bear to do that to a 2 week old opteron that my girlfriend so graciously bought me for xmas.

Maybe Ill just back off (since the performance level is still pretty amazing at 2500mHz) until I either get more aggressive air cooling or possibly a watercooling setup. (77 bonneville heater core, stinger block, the whole ghetto-shabang, If I go water I want to do it right off the bat).

Anyways, enough with the boring drama, ill post screens later, for now the notable scores are as follows:

With tweaked drivers version 92.91 my stock (500/1000) 3dmark scores are:
01SE - 26394
03 - 15149 (compared to 14463 with 91.45 drivers)
05 - 6555 (compared to 6538 with 91.45 drivers)
06 - 2858 (compared to 2780 with 91.45 drivers)

Now running 550/1100:
01SE - 26919
03 - 16341 (compared to 14968 with 91.45 drivers)
05 - 7129 (compared to 7055 with 91.45 drivers)
06 - 3047 (compared to 2975 with 91.45 drivers)

Now Running 565/1140:
03 - 16768
05 - 7307
06 - 3101

I can now overclock these cards to 570/1145 but I forgot to write down the scores, so wait for the screens.

I also scored somewhere in the mid-high 90Ks on AM3 under all overclocked settings, but its not a very good measurement of performance so I just threw those results out.

Its dual priming on stock settings for today, last I checked before I left, core0 was 37-38C, while core1 was 47-51C. Depressing. Last night I didnt get anything done, I feel asleep agt 8pm - I tell you this flu is kicking my ass.

That is what I am guessing, but until I take the AC64 off the the chip I won't really know much beyond the simple fact that something is wrong.

Also, I wiped the stock thermal gunk off my stock HSF from the opteron last week to put it atop the naked venice, so Ill have to take that rig apart a bit to test it on the opteron.

However with my failing health I dont think Ill be doing anything tonight but trying to sleep and taking lots of meds

Sorry to hear that dude! I know how you feel about the health thing. Just take a breather and go do something else! Sounds crazy I know but going outside and taking some fresh air is always good to do! You could just try putting on the stock heatsink and see if there is such a temperature difference.
