And for the same retail price as the original Yoga? Less than a year later? This is actually a pretty great deal considering what you get.
Use a Yoga for five minutes in a store. That's all it takes to realize that tablet/laptop convertibles aren't a gimmick.

While i don't see myself using a tablet or a laptop anytime soon (i'm well grounded now) I did for a long time own a hp tx2500z - it was one of those converitble tablet/laptops with the swivel screen.

That thing was awesome- small enough to fit in any bag, the touch screen was fun for all sorts of drawing and games (long before angry birds iirc) ... taking notes in class was a breeze and i didn't have the mess of papers that haunted my backpacks and lockers in highschool.

It made a good conversation starter too...

Anyone else thinking about taking out the display and using it for your desktop? Hell you could buy four of these things for $4 K and have a 30' monitor at 6400x3200. bigeyedsmiley.png

I know people love high resolution but to gamers the price is too high. When i upgraded from 1080p to 1440p i had to spend a lot more money to play games @ 1440p like i did @ 1080p.

I should also add that most reviews use 1600mhz ram when reviewing iGPUs which means there's more potential to be tapped when faster ram is used.

Iris Pro is really promising, but also EXTREMELY expensive.

AMD's Kaveri should easily outmatch it in APUs at around 1/3rd of its pricepoint.

This lappy looks quite interesting, the backfolding thing onto a tablet looks nice, but they better provide with a keyboard guard! thumb.gif

I'd rather all PC laptop makers completely ditch 1366x768 TN panels this year, its so sad that $700 laptops ship with worse screens than $300 tablets these days. 1600x900 IPS should be the minimum, 1920x1080p IPS should be the standard and 2560x1440p IPS should befor high end for laptops imo. No need for a 4K screen on a tiny screen like that.

I don't care about IPS on a laptop (well yes I do, but it's not really a super necessary thing), but I do care about resolution, and thus agree with your statement.

They should standarise 1600x900 already on 15 inch.

Thread Starter
I only know of three brands proposing to use Iris Pro to date; HP in their ZBook line, Dell in their Precision line and Apple in their Macbook Pros. All incredibly expensive.
I'm not sure if anyone has mention something about this already on this thread, but what really gets me thinking is how in the heck can Lenovo release a 3200x1800 display laptop that only cost $1300!! Heck, you can't even buy a desktop display with that kind of resolution! The closes thing besides jumping up to a 4k would be 2560x1600 and those suckers cost over $500 for a Korean brand display and $1000 for any local brand display. ***! O.o
Just Saying!

Google put a 2560 x 1600 display in a Nexus 10, Amazon a 2560 x 1600 in a HDX 8.9, and Apple put a 2048 x 1536 in an iPad. All of those devices are $500 or less. If Apple, Google, and Amazon are able to do that, then Lenovo and other companies have no excuse as to why wouldn't they be able to release a laptop with a resolution that's similar...or higher.

Probably much cheaper to make a 13.3" 3200X1800 display than a 30" 2560X1600 display. Also, the larger you make the display, the harder it is to keep it in acceptable condition. 1 bad pixel on a 30" 4.1 MP display is a lot more obvious than one on that 13.3" 5.7MP one. Thus why small & high res display are so prevalent, while large high res desktop monitors aren't.
