Will it create a big bottleneck?

Hey guys, just check my specs, I got a 8800 GTX shipping, and tell me according to my specs if there is going to be bottlenecks with the new GPU.

I recommend getting atleast an E6300 and OC'ing it to the next universe, because yes, there will be a bottleneck. Nice 8800 tho!

but it won't be horrible right? cause overall my system is fast, 2 GB Dual Chanel XMS2 DDR2 667, Pentium 4 is still a little fast, just no SSE4 instructions and no 1066 MHZ FSB. If only I could unlock the FSB multiplier.

It will still run fine, but no CPU out right now DOESNT bottleneck the 8800GTX, so I wouldn't worry about it.
cant complain..

thanks. but my motherboard sucks anyway because it stated it was pentium D compatible and it's not, they work only in single core and on the 90 nm process, all 65 nm process CPU aren't compatible.

Yes that will create a bottleneck, but that is nothing to be worried about. The performance will still be absolutely amazing and the bottleneck will lessen once DX10 comes out, putting the strain mostly on the card's processors. Don't be afraid of bottlenecks, you still get amazing performance out of those 8 series.

Please specify the application list that you wish to ascertain if you will have a bottleneck with.

A bottleneck will not occur in older applications with your system. Newer applications (namely 3D games) will have problems with your new Graphics Card, as it is capable of processing information at a greater rate than the remainder of the system components.

A bottleneck will occur much less at greater resolutions, even with your Pentium 4. If you were to run F.E.A.R. at over 2000x1600 the Frame Rate (FSP) would stabilise. This is because the Graphics Processing Unit is able to process the majority of information. The CPU will just process a slight increase in data, mostly Physics, and sometimes Geometry.

Just so you know the current Core 2 Duo processors do not incorporate SSE4. They incorporate SSSE3+ (Supplemental SSE3). This adds a few additional instructions to the SSE3 set, but they offer only small benefits currently in the majority of applications.

You have to take into consideration what video resolution you're taking about before you start claiming the CPU is always the bottleneck with a 8800GTX. Sure if you're using that video card on a tiny little 1280x1024 monitor the CPU will bottleneck (and that's a waste of that videocard, unless you really want DX10 now).

If you're sitting in front of a 30" 2560x1600 monitor, then the video card is still the bottleneck even with a E6300 at stock speeds.
