TotalBiscuit's Gamescom Preview (interview with Dev with gameplay)

WildStar is an upcoming science fiction massively multiplayer online role-playing game that takes place on the fictional planet Nexus, where a mysterious and powerful race known as the Eldan have disappeared leaving behind a wealth of technology and secrets for players to explore.
WildStar is developed by Carbine Studios, published by NCsoft and was unveiled on August 17, 2011 during Gamescom.
The game was first set to be released in 2013 Q4, but was later delayed to Q1/Q2 of 2014. WildStar gives players two methods of paying for the game, following the initial purchase. The first being a monthly subscription, costing and giving the player 30 days of game time. The second method allows players to purchase an in-game item which grants 1 month of playtime, but is able to be traded to other players for in-game currency.

Looks like a very interesting game. It'll be interesting to see how Sci-Fi theme works in the MMORPG realm. In most of the MMOs nowadays, the setting is pretty bog-standard and it's getting repetitive fast. The game's been in development since 2011, and the currently gameplay coverage looks very promising. Let me know your thoughts on the game!

Im stoked for it. I can't wait for it to come out. I want to play an aurin esper, WITH BUNNY EARS! omg i've been waiting for years for stuff likethat.

I hope i get to customize hair colors and stuff too. bunnyears and like whitish hair would be AWESOMEEEEE....

I got to play it at PAXprime and it was just amazingly fluid and smooth in combat, and very colorful artwork. It's a lot like TERA actually but with much more fluid combat. I loved TERA so i'm totally stoked for WildStar.

I'm amazed at how many people arent totally wanting this game. Because it looks AMAZING. I plan on getting a collectors edition box(if there is one) and a full year sub right out of the gate. I have a pic of me from the WildStar party with like wildstar branding on it. It sits on my desk.

I've been waiting for an mmorpg like WildStar for years so im definately waiting for this.

Wow, no one is interested in this thread? Biggest MMO release of this year for sure lol.

Where is the official unofficial community forum for this game? I got all excited when I read a post dated mid-December that suggested there would be a proper Oceanic server at release.
Also, can someone reading this thread (after I necro it) explain how friend beta keys work? Are they invites given by those who already have access to the beta? I've got a spare 2 months left before Uni starts again wink.gif

edit: wildstar-central answers the strike-through

I've got one mate who's in the beta. He hasn't been playing much since he's a fairly high-end LoL player.

Due to the mechanics, this game neeeeeds to have a local server for anyone in my region to get interested

You should ask your mate to check his email, they've sent out a few waves of friend keys to beta testers.....then send the key to me tongue.gif

I'm looking forward to trying WildStar out. After years and years of WoW, I feel like the magic has faded for good. I'll most likely play a Stalker, Medic, Spellslinger, or Esper.

Ill play whatever appears to be least popular. Probably Engi or Esper.

Ill ask my mate tonight and see if he's got any spare keys
