Thread Starter
I just borrowed GTX 280 to replace my GTS 450 for 2-3months until i get new card, so im interested if i should use GTS 450 as dedicated PhysX card and is my PSU (Thermaltake SPS-630M) good enough ?

Rest of my specs are:
FX-6300 @4.00 GHz
Coolermaster Hyper 212evo
MSI 970a-g46
Patriot Viper3 black mamba 2x4Gb 1866 MHz
Hitachi 500GB sata 2 HDD (old one from previous build)
Samsung 840pro 128gb SSD
Thermaltake versa II case

I also have spare 9500GT

I wouldn't trust this PSU for a gaming system, but it might be ok. After all, the GTS 450 would only be doing PhysX, so its power draw will be very small.

I sincerely doubt it because the GTS 450 is way beyond the 9500 GT and therefore it should provide better PhysX performance.

For PhysX (dedicated) cards, the hierarchy is basically:
1) 650Ti/650Ti Boost
2) 560Ti(448) - for beefy SLI x70's or above
2) 550Ti - for anything but the crazy setups
3) GTS450
.......
9800GTX/8800GTx are also ccapable but will hold back newer cards. I would think that either of these would actually be ideal for matching to a 280.

Basically, the Fermi arch has the best, by a huge margin, PhysX compute performance. I think the 550/560 et al will be the best dedicated PhysX cards for a long while...
