btw Nvidia did cut prices when they were very bad in terms of perf/$. GTX 280 was cut from USD 650 to USD 500 two weeks after launch. That entire generation was a cut throat price war.
btw there was no price cut on GTX 580 because Nvidia had very little stock left in the channel. They had stopped GTX 580 production and GTX 680 was ready. oh is that so difficult to understand. also GTX 480 went to as low as USD 200. if Nvidia is so much exempt from competition why those incredibly low prices ? Its all about market perception of a particular product.
I'll Ignore your rudeness, because you're reading my post, BUT you're translating it to what you want it to sound like. I said nothing demeaning about Hawaii's performance, so i don't know what you are getting at.

That being said, I agree that seeing what AMD's next gen brings is more of an incentive to wait. $50 barely buys 2 people a lunch in Toronto, it's not an amount of money that would keep me waiting to get the card I want.
... That right there makes a lot of sense. All i was saying in my previous post is that, if you guys are suggesting he waits to see what AMD's GPU's will have to offer (performance/price wise), then yes, he should if he can. But he shouldn't wait a month to get a 780 if that's what he was going to get from the start, because even if the New AMD GPU's are released, the price of the 780 will not go down, and even if it did, it won't be worth the wait.
The 7990's price dropped to 649$ a while ago on the cheapest version on newegg, but the 690's price is still 999$ on the cheapest version on newegg. I hope you get my point, unlike Mr Raghu lol
